Editorial Reviews

Children's Literature - Marilyn Courtot
It's summertime. There is so much to do and lots of choice for these two girlfriends. Should they go to the pool or to the beach, should they fish or sail a boat, should they go to the fair or to the zoo? Perhaps it would be fun to watch the fireworks; then again, perhaps it would be good to catch the fireflies. The girls "flip and they flop." Eventually, they head for the beach; there, the terms flip and flop take on a new meaning. Kids will get the joke and enjoy seeing these two girls having a summer full of fun. The illustrations have the soft tones of pastels, but the cover has an extra brightness and shiny finish. The book comes with two pages of stickers for kids to play with. Part of the "Step Into Reading" series, this is a step 1 title whose hallmark is large type, easy words, rhyme and rhythm, and picture clues. It is aimed at children who know the alphabet and who are eager to begin reading. The opening note to parents gives more information about the series and tips for shared reading.
