Editorial Reviews

Children's Literature
This excellent "packet" of activities is designed to assist teachers in helping students practice the elements of comprehension. The sixty-four pages are in a ring binder which adjusts to a flip chart that can be placed on a desk or table to provide daily practice on expository, narrative or combined elements. Each activity has brief and to-the-point instructions, large print for easy viewing, and graphics to aid understanding. After some initial introductions and examples, students should be able to follow the directions and complete the activities on their own. Elements such as prediction, retelling, sequencing, cause and effect, and story retelling can be used and reused with no preparation and with any text or genre. It could be easily utilized with a wide variety of reading abilities. A plus for any teacher, it is also available in Spanish. A bibliography is included. 2005, Maupin House, Ages Adult.
