Kirkus Reviews
When Lady Beatrice Moore meets Sir Colin Tate, she is convinced he is the man of her dreams, and the fact that he is her favorite artist's son is a bonus; however, if there is one thing the lady can't abide, it's a fortune hunter, so it's a tragic shame that Sir Colin happens to be one. From the moment they meet, Lady Beatrice and Sir Colin are attracted. Affection grows the more they get to know each other, so it comes as no surprise when Colin asks Beatrice to marry him and she agrees. However, a mean-spirited, spurned suitor makes Beatrice second-guess herself and her faith in a happy future when he tells her that Colin is simply a fortune hunter, out for her money. To her dismay, she learns the fortune hunter part is true. Colin must make a financially beneficial marriage to save his siblings, since his recently deceased father's debts put them in jeopardy. Colin considers himself fortunate to marry the woman he loves, since he'd resigned himself to a loveless match for the sake of financial security. However, once Beatrice learns the truth, she feels betrayed and doesn't believe Colin loves her, putting him in the untenable position of somehow proving his love for her irrespective of her money. All seems lost, and Colin leaves London to scour his father's estate for any hidden treasure that might keep disaster at bay, while realizing that the situation is fatally flawed. He will never be able to prove his love if she does not fundamentally trust him. Knightley has made some interesting choices in this third installment of her Sealed With a Kiss series, and they are mostly winningly successful. The romance is a little meandering, and the Black Moment is a little too-obviously set up, using conversations with secondary characters. However, the clever and unusual Regency storyline and Knightley's ability to flesh out sympathetic characters, especially when they are forced to make not-so-palatable choices, combine to create a fetching novel. An emotional and refreshingly original Regency tale. Knightley's "sweet" (read: no sex) romance may gain favor with Regency fans hard-pressed to find less sexually provocative stories.

Flirting with Fortune: A Sealed with a Kiss Novel 4.3 out of 5 based on 0 ratings. 8 reviews.

I love this author and her books. Absolutely and unreservedly. This book is another excellent entry in the series...until the last page. The ending was so abrupt that it left me feeling gypped. There should have been at least one, or, even better ten more pages. The ending cost this book two stars. Seriously irritating. Completely dissatisfying. I am very disappointed.

She knows how to build the intensity of a relationship without making it graphic.

Flirting with Fortune is the 3rd book in Erin Knightley’s Sealed With a Kiss series. This series concentrates on the wealthy and powerful Moore children, as they each find their destined mates. The first two wonderful books in this series belonged to Evie and Benedict, then Richard with Jane. In Flirting with Fortune, it is Bea’s turn, and her parents are pushing her hard to find a husband before she gets much older. But Bea, who is an artist, is much like Evie was; she isn’t interested in the men she must face at the coming out balls. As far as Bea is concerned, they are all Fortune Hunters, looking only for the dowry that comes with picking a bride. She is determined to never marry a fortune hunter. Bea’s only interest is her art, which gives her so much joy, and the late famous artist, Sir Frederick Tate is her idol. We meet our hero, Colin Tate, who is the late artist’s son, before the ball, where he will be introduced. While waiting in the study, he spots someone looking at all the art work of his father. Both Colin and Bea meet here, and they find themselves intrigued and attracted to each other fairly quickly. But it isn’t until Bea finds out Colin is her idol’s son that she makes her mother officially introduce her. What follows is an wonderful romance, as both Colin and Bea find themselves falling in love. The relationship between them was so much fun to watch, as they had such great chemistry; easygoing camaraderie, cute banter between them, and they were just simply irresistible together. Colin knew that Bea was the woman he wanted to spend the rest of his life with, he was hopelessly in love. But he worried, as he had a secret that could destroy his relationship with Bea. Colin’s father left the family deep in debt, and Colin having his family depend on him as the eldest son, to find a way to save his home in Scotland. This was the real reason he was forced to come to England to find a wife with a dowry to help him pay off those debts. But Colin truly loves Bea, and he is afraid she will think he wants her only for the money, as she is obsessed with hating Fortune Hunters. When he meets Richard (Bea’s brother) to ask for her hand in marriage, Colin tells him the truth and explains a solution that Richard finds acceptable and proves his love to Bea. Unfortunately, we knew Bea would learn the truth of Colin’s debt. What happens next is a very painful period that had me somewhat unhappy with Bea’s behavior. I loved Colin and his determination to prove his love, at the same time I wanted to smack Bea a few times. Will Colin win Bea’s forgiveness? Well this is pure romance, so you pick the answer. As I have mentioned in previous reviews, Erin Knightley has a wonderful voice, and her romances are fun and enjoyable to read, as well as having some great characters in this series. I suggest you start with the first book (More Than a Stranger) before you read Flirting with Fortune. You won’t be sorry, as Sealed With a Kiss is a wonderful series.

~Reviewed by ANN & posted at Under the Covers Book Blog Erin Knightley returns with the third book in the Sealed with a Kiss series. FLIRTING WITH FORTUNE is Lady Beatrice’s book, the sibling to the main characters in the previous books. One of the great things about this series is the focus on family. I just love reading the interaction between the Moore siblings and finally, we have Beatrice’s story which just as entertaining as the others. Beatrice and Sir Colin Tate meet by accident and it’s quite fun to read their interactions with one another. Knightley brings forth a lot of humor and flirting however, because decorum doesn’t allow them to be seen together, they must be introduced to one another before they can dance. It’s all very sweet and charming. But the shock comes when Beatrice learns that the man she met earlier is the son of her favorite artist. Colin is also in the marriage market, looking for a woman to marry with a fortune to save their reputation. It’s all a mad dash and certainly makes for a fun storyline. I was enamored by Colin the Scot so reading this book took no effort on my part at all. Another fabulous thing about this book is Knightley’s writing. It flows smoother than silk thus creating the most enjoyable experience while reading. There is also a touch of angst that I think adds dimension to the characters. It’s always wonderful when readers are able to connect with the characters on the page and feel the same emotions as they do. Knightley possesses that rare talent and I think that’s what makes her stories feel so real; they are so relatable. FLIRTING WITH FORTUNE is a sweetly romantic read and another great installment to the series. *ARC provided by publisher
