    In-depth regional information

I've been to Tuscany many times, but this guidebook gave me lots of new information. And even though this was my third visit to Barga, I still found out about things I hadn't discovered on my earlier trips. The book included descriptions of places I'd been but wasn't planning to revisit this time, like Cinqueterre, and I especially enjoyed reading the section on Siena, one of my favorite Italian cities. When you're reading an evocative description of a place you've enjoyed that gives you the feel of what you experienced there, that's the sign of an excellent travel guide! I'll definitely be keeping this book in my library for use in planning my next trip to Italy and for browsing on a snowy New England winter night...
