Overview

When widower and land baron Cole Reardon acquired the Turner Grain Corporation, he didn't know the company sponsored a bull rider. He refuses to support thrill-seekers dumb enough to get on the back of a crazed animal. He’s not willing to risk his fortune and livelihood when he has his daughter's well-being to consider. Not even when the bull rider is the sexiest woman he's ever seen.

Bull rider Florentine McDougal plans to turn pro after the season championship, fulfilling her lifelong dream of succeeding in a man’s world. That is, until Cole Reardon shows up and threatens to break his sponsorship contract with her. Now everything she’s worked for is less than eight seconds away from being destroyed.

Cole distracts Florentine with his sexy mouth and unreasonable demands, and he's not going to compromise his integrity. But she's not going to let him loose until she has pro status. And neither will come away from this dust-up unscathed.

Don't let the 1980s western cover fool you! Rodeo Rebel is the best in Debra Kayn's very good Sisters of McDougal Ranch series. Cole is entirely lovable and Florentine is sassy. A very fun read!

What a delight! It's been a long time since I felt like cheering a couple on in a book the way I have with Cole and Florentine. It was like watching a movie until the last moment and having to wipe your eyes afterward because it was just that good of a story. Well done, Ms. Kayn. You've made me a fan!

I've always enjoyed Ms.Kayn's books. Her characters are real, and the heroines don't take crap from anyone. Florentine is a class act with enough spunk and sass to go head to head with Cole. I loved their interactions. Once again, I laughed, I cheered, and I cried. Well done, Ms. Kayn. I'm ready for the next Sisters of McDougal book!

    Review:

"Florentine's Hero" by Debra Kayn was a good read that had you laughing, tearing, and even cheering this heroine(Florentine McDougal) in this novel. This novel was a fourth in a series called the 'Sisters of McDougal Ranch.' It was hard for me to even amagine but Florentine was trying out for the top spot in the world of Bull Riding....Yes Bull Riding which until now...I even thought this was just for the male gender. Florentine was trying to make her mark in this sport of a male dominant scene and the new owner...one of Florentine's main sponsors and the only business that would even sponsor her....Cole Readon was not for her doing this this at all. WHY was that? Cole had other plans that would allow him out of this contract that they had signed, however, Florentine would have none of this and that is when this novel takes off...and this is where I say you must pick up this good read to see where this author is going to take us..the reader. Would Florentine let Cole out of this contract? The characters were simply off the chart good from Florentine, Cole, Sara, the McDougal sisters...to many others that were presented with joys, sorrows, dreams love and even some hot sex! I found this novel had a fast paced that simply left it hard to put down with a unforgettable thought that women can do anything even be Bull Riders!

If you are looking for a read with sexy cowboys, rodeos, romance you have come to the right place and I would recommend this novel "Florentine's Hero" to you as a good read.

    Rodeo Rebel by Debra Kayn
4 STARS I enjoyed the fact that Florentine McDougal had a different job than I have ever read about for a woman. She is a bull rider. I have to say that it is hard for me to think about a women doing that job. Just how physical it is. I learned that I am not as well rounded on that profession as I should be. Florentine is named after a lace and all four of her sisters are too. Florentine is a twin too. She was raised on a ranch by her father after her mother died when she was younger. Her dad passed away last year. Florentine gets no respect from the other cowboys. They feel threatened by her as a female bullrider who is beating them. She has just a few rides left of the season and she is on her way to being a professional bull rider. Cole Reardon just bought Turner Grain Corporation and along with that he found himself to be sponsering a bullrider Florentine. Cole feels strongly that he does not want to be a sponser of someone risking thier live for entertainment. He wants out of the contract. Cole is a widower and is raising his daughter Sarah and he wants to be a good example to her. He is over the top protective of her. Cole takes Florentine to dinner after the rodeo and tells her he wants to buyout his contract. Florentine gets angry and tells him no. This is her dream and she has a tight contract. She wants to win so that she can help other girls to realize that they can be whatever they want to be. If she can make her dream come true with hardwork so can they. She is not leting Cole out. Right before her next ride Cole agains tries to get her to let him buyout his contract. Right after that she gets injured from her ride. Cole contract states he be responsible for her medical bills. Also feels guilty for distracting her before her ride. Florentine has a concussion and Cole thinks she will let him buyout his contract now that she is injured and can't ride. Florentine plans to be back riding the bulls in 10 days. The doctor wants her to take it easy for 2 weeks but agrees that if she rests should be able to compete in 10 days if she wants to. Cole is torn he wants her but does not want her risky behavor around his daughter. He takes Florentine home for her 10 days off. He also brings his little daughter with him. Florentine family always puts on a big 4th of July party with fireworks on her family ranch and this year her sister is getting married right before the party. Sarah is glad to be thier she wants a mother. She also wants more freedom than her father gives her. Now can Florentine cook cookies? It is on her wish list for a mom. Florentine has to act tough to be a bullrider. She is lonely out on the circut one day a cowboy wants to bed her and the next he wants her gone. She will not date a cowboy. I stayed up late because I had to see if she won or lost and how the book would turn out. Thier are a few love scenes in the book. I want to read more about Florentine family. I think they have had thier own story written. I would read more from Debra in the future. The rodeo action seemed so believeable you could almost taste the dirt. Too bad I missed my towns rodeo last week. If it was this week I probably would go after reading this story. Florentine's father did a fine job raising his daughters to go for thier dream whatever they wanted. Let them know how much he loved them and how proud of them he was. I liked her family. I was given this ebook to read in return for giving honest review.

Rodeo Rebel is the first book I’ve read in the McDougal Ranch series by Debra Kayn and I was not disappointed. I could not put this book down and finished it all in one sitting. Now I just have to read the rest of the series. Ms. Kayn has done a great job of character development and making readers care about them.
In Rodeo Rebel, Florentine is a strong, sexy, fearless bull rider trying to be the first woman to win a major tournament and turn pro, at the same time trying to convince Cole Reardon, owner of Turner Grain Corporation to remain her sponsor until the end.
Cole is a single dad after his thrill-seeking wife died in an accident and he does not want to be involved in anything he deems dangerous that could possibly influence his daughter, Sarah. A bull riding accident has Florentine, Cole and Sarah spending more time together back at McDougal Ranch during her recuperation. The chemistry between Florentine and Cole sizzles! And Florentine has a great deal of love and affection for Sarah. I loved the relationship Sarah had with all the sisters, it was so realistic. Cole was a bit overprotective but I liked that he wanted what was best for his daughter. I cannot wait to read the other books in this series.
