Editorial Reviews

Children's Literature
This chapter book about the state of Florida is loaded with information for the upper elementary student researcher. In addition to the six chapters on Florida, readers will find timelines, famous people pages, a glossary, index, and recommended books and Web sites. This is a part of the "One Nation" series, and is a revised and edited version of a 1996 publication. All fifty states are included in the series. Preceding the chapters on the Everglades, Florida's history, the land and its people, is an introductory section called Quick Facts. This section gives the reader such details as the state flower, flag, song, size, population, bird, and date of admission to the Union. This is a great "first" source for the upper elementary student. It offers much of the same information as the "America the Beautiful" series, but on a lower reading level. 2003 (orig. 1996), Capstone Press,
