Editorial Reviews

School Library Journal
Gr 2-4-These titles take a cookie-cutter approach to the topics. Each volume has the same two-page introductory warning about the threats of extinction. Basic information about the animals includes habitat and food sources. Half of each book is devoted to natural dangers and human threats to the creatures' survival. A chart illustrates the precipitous declines of population. The authors provide information about efforts groups such as the World Wildlife Fund and suggest ways readers can help save the animals. Numerous photos and a range map accompany the simple texts. Purchase as needed to bolster basic report material about one or more of these animals.-Kathy Piehl, Minnesota State University, Mankato Copyright 2006 Reed Business Information.
