About the Author

N. A. Katsanos is Professor of Physical Chemistry and Director of the Department of Physical, Inorganic and Nuclear Chemistry at the University of Patras in Greece. Prior to this, he was Head of a research group at the Nuclear Research Centre "Democritos" of the Greek Atomic Energy Commission. The author of nearly 100 articles in international research journals on charge-transfer complexes, hot atom chemistry, chemical kinetics, adsorption, catalysis, chromatography, and related topics, as well as seven textbooks and notes on physical chemistry and other subjects, Dr. Katsanos is the recipient of the 1983 Athens Academy Prize for his work on reversed-flow gas chromatography: A member of the Royal Society of Chemistry (U.K.) and Greek Chemists' Association, Professor Katsanos received the Diploma (1954) and doctor's degree (1963), both in chemistry, from the University of Thessaloniki, and a Post-Graduate Diploma (1961) in radiochemistry from Leicester College of Technology in England.
