Flower: Kids Can Survive
Flower is not just another children’s storybook. It’s a journey through the mind of a naïve Chinese girl as she struggles to show the world that a complex young life can be survived against all odds. Adults often forget the impact they have on young lives, but Flower’s homegrown heart and wisdom shine above the world’s attempts to smother her special surviving spirit inside. She’s growing up fast, determined to understand what’s important in life. Life at any age can be difficult and sometimes only survived by maintaining a childlike, fairy-tale hope for a grand future. Flower shares her stories, smiling and dancing, in the hopes that readers young and old will adopt her attitude toward living a happy and meaningful life and realize the true importance of family.

About the Author

Helen Ding was born in China and studied fine arts in Singapore and Australia before going on to teach in China, Hong Kong, and Saudi Arabia. She taught art for 10 years, and that experience inspired her to write this book. She wanted to create an inspirational story based on a realistic child instead of a fairy tale character, and she wanted to emphasize the importance of family. She and her husband currently live in Florida.
