    Outstanding, Written very well

The author provides an interesting and very well written description of the American WWI members of the Escadrille flyers who took part in the French Air Force prior to the involvement of the US.

The descriptions of the flights and life styles of the pilots are well done. The narrative offers such excellent detail of the pilot's view of flying that you almost feel like you are in the plane and witnessing the events and scenes.

I highly recommend this book to any individual that enjoys reading air combat literature. A plus is the author's descriptions of the scenes that aviators viewed while flying: detailed, realistic, and written very well.

    WWI Fighter for freedom

This is a story of a young American during WWI. He could not stand by doing nothing while others fought for freedom. He ends up flying a warplane for France. This was before the U.S. entered the war. His enthusiasm is to be commended. He does what is right and enjoys flying when planes were very unsafe. You held your map in one hand and controlled the plane with your other hand and your feet. This book is a joy to read. It lets you know what flying was like during WWI. It shares the highs and the lows.
