Editorial Reviews

Children's Literature - Elizabeth Young
Aboard your microlight aircraft you find yourself on an island of flying reptiles. You are well equipped to document all that you may see, if only your nerves were as steady as your equipment. Flying creatures surround you at every step. So begins your venture into this title in the "Prehistoric Safari" series. You will learn about many of these creatures, which are almost too strange to believe, as well as having difficult to pronounce names. But pronounce them, you do; and discover more than you thought possible, even wondering if one of them could be directly related to land dwelling dinosaurs. As with others in this series, the book is attractively presented with detailed illustrations and tidbits of trivia on sidebars. Though no cameras had been invented during the reign of the dinosaur (at least that we know of), the images presented could almost pass as photographs—they are that detailed. There are a few real photographs of fossils, but most images are culled from open stock media graphics. Following the text are a helpful glossary, references and web sites for more discovery, and a thorough index. A wonderful addition to any dinosaur loving library. Reviewer: Elizabeth Young
