After 20 years of unsuccessful attempts to conquer my fear of flying I stumbled across Duane Brown's 'Flying Without Fear'. I read it cover to cover before a nonstop flight from Dallas to Honolulu. For the first time ever I completed the flight without the aid of mood altering substances. The book contains clear, concise steps to help identify the types of fear of flying. It then moves in to how to overcome those fears. This book goes with me on every flight now. Read it and fly calmly!

I was able to fly across the country without crying just by reading this book. I have never been able to fly without being terrified. I took the book with me and looked at parts that I had marked ahead of time, whenever I felt the need. I even was able to eat my meals. The best part was that I didn't ruin the trip for my family.

One main reason I'm afraid to fly is because I know humans are fallible - that airplane mechanic had insomnia last night, the pilot's wife threatened to leave him so he's distracted, etc. If that is a problem for you, this book does not help because there are so many typos in it that it just reinforces the fear. I'm glad it's helped others, but I just couldn't get past the errors. Granted, proofreading isn't saving lives, but...

Good book for reassuring information about the mechanics of an airplane. Very insightful as to types of fear. Talks a bit too much about past accidents for my taste but the rest of the book, along with a relaxation tape, helped me a lot on my last flight!

This was a GREAT book!!! I was able to fly from Philadelphia to San Diego with no problems what so ever!!! First time in 12 years that I have been able to do this. I even explained the noises to my husband. He was shocked how calm I was. Thank you, thank you, thank you!!!
