Flyte (1967-1968)

Flyte (1967-1968)

by The Flowerz

This includes both sides of their 1968 singles, plus an unreleased cut, surrounded by no less than 16 cover versions from a 1968 tape. This tape was used for an unusual teen dance at which it was played through the PA system in sync with the band's live performance; sort of a concert demonstration of double-tracking, intended to double the impact of their show.

Overview

This includes both sides of their 1968 singles, plus an unreleased cut, surrounded by no less than 16 cover versions from a 1968 tape. This tape was used for an unusual teen dance at which it was played through the PA system in sync with the band's live performance; sort of a concert demonstration of double-tracking, intended to double the impact of their show. Typical emcee patter is interspersed throughout the songs (says one British-accented lass: "It was good: it was psychedelic, but it was still easy to dance to, which is what all the people want tonight"). As for the actual quality of the cover versions, they're faithful renditions that will interest few, unless you get a special kick from hearing tapes of teen sixties bands who work their way around songs like "Light My Fire" by skipping over the more difficult chord changes and riffs.
