Very helpful for planning a trip

This slim volume packs in a lot of info. It clearly explains the geographic layout of the park, which straddles Tennessee and North Carolina, and offers copious tips on activities and amenities in each state, both within and outside the park. Additional info about urban areas including Knoxville and Asheville is very welcome.

The book's organization is slightly confusing, but it seems more a function of the area's great wealth of activities and sights rather than the editors' fault. There's simply tons to do here, and no truly simple way to spell it all out.

We also bought a trail guide to the park, which we recommend, and got a Blue Ridge Parkway brochure with details of all the markers on the road..
