    This was a big disappointment

The book is poorly organized and lacks depth. After I reviewed it and tried to utilize it, I gave up and ordered "DK Eyeitness Travel - Scotland. This is a far superior travel guide that is very useful.

    Great Travel Guide

Growing up in Scotland I never visited too much of the tourist stuff but taking my husband home for the first time I bought this travel guide to give me information about not to be missed attractions. I like the fact this guide gives background historical as well as practical travel information. It also doesn't just mention the obvious tourist trap restaurants and hotels but mentions smaller independents too. Only thing the book does not stipulate is that if going to Edinburgh in August during the Fringe Festival, you must make hotel/travel/restaurant reservations up to a year in advance as the city is PACKED with tourists.

    I Also Recommend:

    great introduction

I got this book as a complement to my other guidebooks as it has some interesting self-guided walking/trail suggestions, as well as full color illustrations to get a better idea of the sights we would be seeing. It worked great in conjunction with the other guides, but I had some difficulty with the book's organization of sections.
