Foggy Mountain Banjo

Editorial Reviews

All Music Guide - Michael McCall
The album that secured Flatt & Scruggs standing among folk music enthusiasts in the 1960s, Foggy Mountain Banjo focuses on Earl Scruggs' instrumental prowess as well as his sharp interplay with dobroist Josh Graves, fiddler Paul Warren and Lester Flatt's flat-picking guitar. The album also features drummer Buddy Harman, whose appearance shocked purists.

    The Bible for Banjo Pickers

This album is the benchmark for anyone that plays or wants to play a 5 string banjo. If you don't know how to pick the songs and licks on this album then you don't know how to pick. The picking is as clean as it gets and the tunes are full of time tested, standard licks that sound so solid you can't get away from it. Do not pass this album up if you have never heard it. I still have the vinyl and listen to it often. It is great and gets better with time. There is still no one like Earl.
