Folk Legends, Vol. 1

Editorial Reviews

All Music Guide - James Christopher Monger
Volume One in St. Clair's Folk Legends series begins appropriately with Ian Campbell's excellent version of Ewan MacColl's "Dirty Old Town." What follows is a nicely sequenced overview of late '60s/early '70s British Folk that focuses on many of the genre's greats including pre-"Baker Street" Gerry Rafferty's "Coconut Tree," Ralph Mctell's "Spiral Staircase," and Mike and Sally Oldfield's aka the Sallyangie single "Lover for All Seasons." Many of the artists are featured on Castle's superior Best of British Folk series.
