I remember reading this book in the 4th grade. I really enjoyed reading it then and I still do. This story introduced me to things in life, that I don't have to deal with, and the struggles people have to go through each day. It opened my eyes to understand those struggles.

My sister and I read this book when we were in grade school and it left a lasting impression on us both. My sister has now been a teacher at the Lion's World for the Blind Enterprises in Little Rock Arkansas for 33 years, and I am a critical-care pediatric nurse with a specialty in special-needs, autism, visual and hearing disorders. I have been a nurse for 30 years. We both remember this book clearly and know it figured in our career choices. I am buying it for my personal library as well as for my grandchildren.

I read this book when I was a child of 11, got the book for my son when he was 11 and just recently got it for my grandaughter and she's 11. It's a great book for kids, good lesson, morals and easy reading for this age. We all loved it!

I read the book, Follow My Leader, when I first started teaching. I was so impressed by the characters and their development that I recommended it to 7th graders who were "struggling readers." I now tutor and continue to recommend it to my tutees. The story is so interesting that parents who read with/to their child, will find it interesting. It gives a glimpses into the horrors of firecrackers; how forgiveness frees the one who forgives. But the thing I was most intrigued with was how a dog became a seeing eye dog, and how the blind got a seeing-eye dog. Just last Tuesday I met a woman who had a retired seeing-eye dog. She had become too old to continue her job, so she was adopted by a teacher of the blind.

This book was AWESOME! As a Service Dog trainer it was a great book to read and to see out in public where kids can have access to this type of material. I believe it really captures the spirit of the disabled and the loyal, loving relationship they can share with their Service Dog. Remember please don't touch a working/service dog. That dog is their LIFE!

I read this book as a child and never forgot it. It illustrates how with determination a person can over come anything. Whether a boy or a girl as long as the chidl loves animals, the story will be a winner.

At my school, we were doing a collage book report andI told my Mom I didn't know what book I wanted to do but I wanted one about a dog. So she suggested the book Follow My Leader. And I admit, I didn't want to read it at first because the cover looked old and boring. But I had no other choice but to read it. And to my surprise it was a great book and I really enjoyed it. As I was reading, I would always say, 'Hey Mom! Let's see....I found a golly, gee, keen, and gosh.' jokingly because we both knew it was a 43 year old book! On my watch, Follow My Leader is one of my favorite books. It is a wonderful book to read fo anyone from ages 9 - 95+. My mother was thinking about reading it once again. I gave it 100 stars....even though you can only give it 5!

Follow My Leader was a school favorite of mine that I remembered over the years. I now have my own copy and enjoy it as much as I did so long ago. Follow My Leader shows how an accident can change someone's life yet change can bring wonderful new things. Follow My Leader will bring anyone hours of enjoyment and it will become very hard to put down.

I remember saving my allowance for WEEKS in order to pay the $3.50 to purchase this hardcover book back in the 60's. My teacher read this book to our class, and it touched all of us. Its nice to see this book is still in print. There are timeless lessons in this book for young and old alike.

I read this book first, as a child, 40 years ago. On a 'whim', I checked B&N 'search' engine to see if it was still in print. Not surprising that after all those years, it's still there and, how wonderful to see, still gathering wonderful comments from 'new' readers. For a book to remain in someone's mind for 40 years, it has to be worth a good look. I remember reading and rereading this story until the backing broke and the pages yellowed. It was a wonderful, wonderful story of adversity.....facing,understanding and rising above many, many challenges. I would recommend this book to any and all young readers....'Leader' will enchant and charm you....and, hopefully, 40 years from now, the story will remain in your mind....as it has in mine!!!!

This is a book that hits everyone of any age right in the heart. It demonstrates all human emotions in a way that is simplistic yet deep. This book shows the kindness of people and presents a childs view of life that is uplifting for parents, friends , and siblings of the blind. It's a lesson in life that we all can learn over and over again.
