If you’re a fan of Bella Andre, Susan Andersen, Rachel Gibson, Jennifer Crusie, and Janet Evanovich, then step into the world of Jennifer Skully!

You met Sheriff Tyler Braxton in “She’s Gotta Be Mine.” Now he’s back with his own tale in “Fool’s Gold.”

Goldstone, Nevada: It’s not your typical vacation getaway.

Sheriff Tyler Braxton hightails it out of Cottonmouth to Goldstone for a little R&R, when his sister puts out a distress call. Suddenly, instead of vacationing, Brax is offering advice to the lovelorn! And to top it off, he has to start his own investigation on his sister’s behalf: Is his brother-in-law having an affair with the local erotic author?

Simone Chandler has found her haven in Goldstone; she loves the forsaken town and its lovable but somewhat beleaguered residents. With a thriving Internet business penning made-to-order erotic fantasies, some of her friends in Goldstone just happen to be her clients, too. The problem: The hunky sheriff from out of town wonders if she’s not only writing stories for his brother-in-law, but acting them out with him, too.

Then murder comes to Goldstone, and Brax is suddenly hip-deep in small-town secrets, with sexy Simone Chandler at the head his suspect list.

Is Simone the real thing, or, as with everything else in Goldstone, is she more like Fool’s Gold?

“Fool’s Gold”, previously published in 2005, is a contemporary romance of approximately 100,000 words / 400 pages.

The book contains the following bonus material:

Excerpts from “Somebody’s Lover”, “Invitation to Seduction”, and “Revenge, West Coast Book 1.”

Road to Romance Reviews: “Fool’s Gold is worth its weight in gold and more.”

Romance Reviews Today: “Jennifer Skully combines humor, mystery, hot sex, fascinating characters, and annoying relatives into one winning book.”

Romance Junkies: “A great book with an awesome plot that readers are sure to enjoy.”

    Highly Recommended

After having read the first Cottonmouth book in the series I looked forward to reading the 2nd book and it did not disappoint. Now I'm ready for the next book, once it's written. I'm especially anxious to find out what happens with the 2 sister's mother as she is a real suppity female.

    A Keeper!

Tyler 'Brax' Braxton is a sheriff in Cottonmouth, California. When he receives a frantic phone call from his sister, Maggie Felman, he decides to use some vacation time and visit her. Maggie believes her husband of ten years, Carl, is having an affair and plans to leave her. Brax arrives in Goldstone, Nevada, and cannot believe his eyes. Goldstone is like a ghost town. The nearest grocery store is thirty miles away and all the buildings fell to ruin during a fire catastrophe and then a flood catastrophe long ago - never to be rebuilt. Brax can't figure out how the few people that reside in Goldstone exists. ............................... As Brax and Carl chat in the only local bar, Brax finds his attention riveted by hot Simone Chandler. Then he learns that she earns her living by writing erotica fantasies for internet clients. Of course, his own imagination jumps to life. He soon realizes that people came to Goldstone to forget or be forgotten. Brax has plenty he would like to forget and found the idea fascinating. One thing is for sure, he finds Simone VERY fascinating and is soon finding time see her. All is going well, until Carl turns up murdered. ........................... Simone may live in a trailer and write erotica for a living, but everyone in the small town knows she would never harm a fly. Not even the sleazy Jason Lafoote, who is trying to get the permits needed to open a gambling resort in the area. But then the most horrible thing possible happens, her MOTHER comes to visit with the intention of making Simone move back home! ........................... ***** Romance, humor, mystery, hot scenes, and suspense ... it's all in here. HQN struck gold (no pun intended) when they got a contract with author Jennifer Skully. As much as I liked her previous book 'Sex and the Serial Killer', I enjoyed this one even more! This is one novel you will not trade into a used a book store. It will head straight to you Keeper Shelf to be enjoyed again at a later date. Wonderful story that I highly recommend to all. *****

    more from this reviewer

    Excellent storytelling, brilliant characterizations

Cottonmouth, California Sheriff Tyler Blaxton takes leave to assist his upset sister Maggie Felman in Goldstone, Nevada. Maggie believes her spouse Carl, an outhouse excavator, is having an affair with some bimbo. Tyler takes Carl to a bar for drinks and talk, but learns nothing but meets beautiful Simone Chandler, author of erotica romances on the net................ While Tyler and Simone are attracted to one another, he also finds Carl behaving mysteriously and strange, but believes he is not having an affair with anyone. As Tyler digs deeper, he observes his brother-in-law acting especially belligerent with odious developer Jason LaFoote. Still in spite of his efforts to learn the truth behind Carl¿s recent actions, Tyler fails to uncover anything of note until an unknown third party raises the ante with murder................. With references to the witch sisters of the Wizard of Oz and an intriguing love at first sight romance, FOOL¿S GOLD starts off as a family drama that about half way into the plot switches into a murder mystery. The audience will treasure and reread the subplot when the focus is on Tyler and Simone when the story line concentrates on the estrangement between Maggie and Carl, fans will wonder why they do not communicate, what he hides in his trailer, and what caused the split (explained too late). The who-done-it is cleverly devised leaving fans with a truly golden tale..................... Harriet Klausner
