Overview

To surpass the high standard set by previous editions, the editors of this third edition have assembled a group of contributors renowned for their expertise in foot and ankle arthroscopy. The editors, who are pioneers in the development of modern arthroscopic techniques, have compiled comprehensive chapters by noted surgeons that provide insight into valuable, cutting-edge developments in the field. In-depth coverage of topics such as practical applications of instrumentation and technique in the clinical setting make this resource indispensable. This book is distinguished by its presentation of imaging techniques, emerging procedures, and mid-foot arthroscopy. The volume features unparalleled discussions of office and outpatient arthroscopy and endoscopic surgery of the ankle and foot. Brilliant color figures enhance chapters on anatomy, differential diagnosis, soft tissue pathology, and rehabilitation, reinforcing the value of this reference to orthopaedic surgeons, sports medicine practitioners, and podiatrists.

This book contains predominantly black-and-white illustrations, with some color illustrations.

Editorial Reviews

Dennis Mess
This is a comprehensive reference text of current diagnosis and treatment of foot and ankle conditions by arthroscopy. The purpose of this book is to report the author's experiences with arthroscopy of the foot and ankle. This book is written for orthopedic surgeons and podiatrists. Specialists in sports medicine will also find this book appealing. All authors are considered "expert" by national reputation. With a few exceptions, the book is well illustrated. The color photographs are particularly good in their illustration of pathology, technique, and anatomy. The book is well organized by individual diseases and techniques are complemented by historical analogies. This very enjoyable book should find a home in every departmental or hospital library. It is the necessary reference for the novice and experienced ankle arthroscopist.

Revised from Ankle Arthroscopy: Pathology and Surgical Techniques (ca. 1988), explains all aspects of diagnostic and surgical arthroscopy of the ankle, as well as the use of the technique in legal cases involving industrial accidents. The topics range from the history of the technique and the basics of the relevant anatomy and radiologic imaging, through instrumentation and arthroscopy for specific conditions and places, to postoperative care and the role of arthroscopy in the foot-and-ankle practice.
