I've read a great number of books on the Marines in Korea. While many accounts of the Korean War emphasize the battalion and regimental commanders, For Country and God emphasizes the important role that the division commander played in the success of the Chosin breakout. For Country and Corps also covers the political shenanigans that went on behind closed doors, and that ultimately cost the lives of many American servicemen in Korea, and the political maneuvering that shoved O.P. Smith out the door. Was this review helpful? Yes NoThank you for your feedback. Report this reviewThank you, this review has been flagged.

The best book yet written about O.P. Smith. Shisler did a fabulous job with extensive research. Even those without a military background can read and understand this book. Was this review helpful? Yes NoThank you for your feedback. Report this reviewThank you, this review has been flagged.
