In my opinion the greatest live recording ever. Robin Trower "LIVE" has got an element very few bands will experience in their careers. The element that takes the listener to the best seat in the house and just drops your jaw! Thank the Lord for this band at that moment in rock history. This trio proved to be a must needed "happening" for us, the rock consumers. Robin's guitar is razor sharp when it needs to be and oh so cool & moody at other times. The way he utilized his Uni-vibe & wah are masterpiece. His "feel" of the Strat is relayed directly to my ears from the very beginning. And he can flat out rock & rip as you can hear in the cover of "Rock Me Baby". James Dewar was THE vocalist of the time. His bass playing set the bottom in a perfect way. Bill Lordan had a sound in his kit that was definatly working in his favor. Even the slight feedback during his drum solo was very appropriate! Without a doubt this would be the lp I get stranded on an island with. I have had many talks with friends & strangers about this lp and the biggest concern seems to be, " Just where the heck is the rest of the concert?" The Robin Trower Band were at the top of the heap in 1974 & '75. I know darn well they played more than seven songs that night! Where's the rest? Wow, I forgot to comment about "For Earth Below". Many say it's the weakest lp in Trower's first 3 lp's but I disagree. I believe if you own any of Trower's first 3 lp's, you must own them all! Period. Was this review helpful?
