This is a wonderful book, especially for those of us that love our dogs and grieve so deeply for their loss. I first received this book prior to the new illustrations in 2003. I have since given it to everyone I care about that has lost their dog.

Everyone I have ever given this book to laughs and cries at the same time. It also eliviates guilt if they are or are not ready to move on to a new loving companion. I recently gave a very best friend this book after her loss within two weeks of two of her three loving dogs. She asked me where she could buy it because it made her feel so much better and she had friends she wanted to share it with. I still often read it, not only after a loss, but when I'm thinking of my many "forever" dogs. The writing, spiritual feel and illustrations are beautiful!

    Wonderful words of comfort

Our precious Yorkie passed away this past week, 4/24/08. My husband and I are just devastated. I had an extra copy of this book that I kept for myself just 'in case'. I am SO happy I have it. I read it everyday, and it certainly seems to help ease the pain of losing Penny. She will always be our 'Forever' dog, and I thank Christine Davis for writing this magnificent and comforting book.

just the right gift at a difficult time

This book was so comforting to me when I lost my sweet little dog. I now keep copies on hand to comfort friends when they lose their best friend.

    Excellent

This was an excellent book. It was a gift from our vet and it has really helped us through an extremely difficult time in our life. I would recommend this for anyone who has lost a pet and feels the emptiness of the loved one being gone.

    My Babies Have Angels

Just received this book from my vet after having to put BOTH my yorkies to sleep, the same day, for different reasons. As I read the book I just cried and cried. It is comforting to know that my babies each have their own angel and that they are in a better place. A must for anyone who has permanently lost a pet.

Helped us prepare for the loss of our dog

I bought this book for the family when we received word that our dog had cancer that could not be stopped. I read this book to both my 10 year old and 14 year old. They each said they felt much better after reading the book. The book emphasized that our lost pets come back to visit us, they are happy when we get other animals, and they are waiting in Heaven to greet us.

    EXCELLENT BOOK!!!

I loved this book and highly recommend it to anyone with children who has lost a precious pet - this book offers hope and answers for children at a time when they are faced with much sadness. It is a great book to give a friend who is has recently lost an important pet to!

This is a precious story for all dog lovers. I myself believe the story and will certainly think of it when I get a new puppy.

A MUST READ FOR ANYONE WHO HAS LOST THEIR FOREVER DOG...

I lost my best friend after 14 years together. I feel so much better knowing my precious Sundance is no longer in pain and is romping with his buddies in a better place.

    Good for Kids

As an adult this did nothing at all to relieve my pain but I have since given it to families with children who have lost a pet and think it is a really great book for that. It is even a nice gesture to give adults to show that you care, but would not help in the grieving process.

    This is a children's book

This book is a children's book complete with cartoons and whimsical thoughts. As an adult, this did NOTHING to relieve the pain of my loss. If giving this book to an adult, realize that it will take less than three minutes to read it.
