For God and Country

Editorial Reviews

Barnes & Noble
On her latest, Dolly Parton takes a detour from the bluegrass-based albums she's been making of late to record For God and Country, a passion-filled release celebrating her gospel roots and her love for the red, white, and blue. On the spiritual side, Parton offers "Peace in the Valley," a rendition of "The Lord Is My Shepherd," and a recording of "There Will Be Peace in the Valley for Me" that she made with the gospel vocal group the Fairfield Four. On the patriotic tip, she puts her own glittery stamp on "The Star Spangled Banner," Lee Greenwood's "God Bless the U.S.A.," and "Tie a Yellow Ribbon."

An album that will make you feel good

I love this album. It makes you feel so positive and uplifted. It's great to hear some patriotic songs and some religious music mixed together. It means a lot for those of us who feel so strongly about God and our fabulous country. I recommend this to everyone!

    The Greatest

I love Dolly, and I love everything she does, but there is something about this album that strikes a cord in you, she puts so much into her songs, her music, from sad songs about losing somebody in the war and all the little things you are gonna miss about them to the funny, sometimes hilarous songs like "Go to Hell." Dolly has got it all, and everyone who is American will love this album. GO BUY IT!

    Patriotic and Passionate!

I have never bought a Dolly Parton CD before, I have never even listened to her. But, I was on leave in the States, and heard Dolly on a late night talk show. I am glad I did. I can't express my appreciation for this CD. It is simply amazing. Although some of the backup singing is extremely cheesy, Dolly is very passionate and patriotic. I haven't loved a CD this much in years.

    Dissapointment

Dolly can put out some great stuff. But this album is not it! In fact, this pack of schlock should never have seen the light of day. Don't waste your money. If you really want to feel patriotic, I recommend feeding a fellow-american who recently has lost his/her job. That'll do a lot more good than spending your money on this coaster.
