All proceeds go to Kelly's Foundation at www.kellyslaterfoundation.org

I bought the book the Friday before I saw Kelly at the Slater Invitational (11.07.08) which then he signed. I read the book that night and I was so captivated by it. It's a feast for the eyes. It's 192 fully colored pages. The shots are super crisp. Kelly talks about what he thinks about different issues; from the war, the government, the environment and how it bothers him how many surfboards he uses coz he probably uses the most boards out of anyone in the world and how much Americans consume. He talks about winning and other fun stuff he's into like golfing and racing cars and finding a turtle shell. He said in the beginnig of the book that some people might wonder why a surfer would talk about the more serious topics and he says, "You can always put the book down!" I thought that was funny! There's 3 pages on how he found this huge turtle shell hanging at a bar wall in the Dominican Republic and he thought it was cool so he asked the owner if he can buy it. The shell was old and it needed a little work so he had it lacquered. Then he put it on with the wires used to hang it and it fit him perfectly. So he took it out in the water and swam with it. There's pics of him acting like a man turtle! He said you can really feel the hydrodynamics of how turtles swim in the water. You have to see the photos! Kelly takes you to all these wonderful, beautiful places he's been and his unique experiences at each place. He talks about music, his relationships, his friendships, about Florida and many other things! It's basically a big scrapbook with all the wonderful photos in it. You just have to get it!
