Overview

The second book in the seriously sexy ‘Wild Heat’ firemen series!Molly Devon, a website designer, and her absent-minded father travel to Florida for two months of sun and sand. She wants to nurse a broken heart, and both need to scatter her mother’s ashes—if only her father can recall where he put them!Grey Barclay, fireman and diver for the Marine Rescue Unit, is slowly remodeling Barclay Beach Bungalows, five little rental cottages he inherited from his uncle. It’s just his luck the first cabin he rents is to a prickly female and her daffy dad! Still, the money looks good in his bank account… that is until Molly’s ex-fiancé turns up dead on Grey’s beach. The police are asking some hard questions but Molly’s providing plenty of soft excuses, and when one of Grey’s bungalows catches fire, Molly is trapped inside, adding fuel to the firestorm of guilt surrounding her.Grey’s not convinced though. He may be a sucker for a set of well-rounded hips and azure eyes, the color of the ocean, but in the short time he’s known Molly he can see behind the cold façade to a warmth and gentleness that’s hard to resist. This fireman’s hell-bent on proving her innocence – and keeping her by his side.

For years I’ve been a romance junkie, devouring each one like warm, chocolate chip cookies. Perhaps that’s why I adore writing about love and passion. Passion—such a powerful word, don’t you think? I’d classify myself as a late bloomer. I started college in my late forties, met the love of my life in my mid-fifties and published my first book in my early sixties. My husband and I live in Southern Virginia. We enjoy spoiling the grandchildren and traveling. My deepest desire is to write saucy, often humorous romances you’ll cherish long after you’ve turned off the e-reader.

I am giving this book 5 Stars but it deserves so much more. I have never laughed so much or so hard when reading a book as I did with this story. I love Barclay and Molly. They are two broken people, learning to live and love again. Throw in several colorful characters, murder, drugs and the combination becomes explosive Barclay Gray, known as “Ice Man” to his coworkers and friends, is a fireman and diver for the marine rescue unit in Clearwater and is trying to learn to live and feel again after losing a child and going through a bitter divorce. We meet Barclay at the local Walgreens purchasing douche for his three girls and this is where the fun begins. “It's gonna take at least 2 boxes for Lola. She's big. Got wide hips. Skinny legs, though” “Make it five or six. And they have to be Massengill, don't forget. God, I don't know which girls smells worst.” Of course, this does not set well with Molly Devon, the cashier. “What an ass, talking about his girlfriend like that!” “Well, quit putting your nose in their hootchies.” Molly is another lost soul, losing her mother, her dad in early stages of dementia, a broken heart and looking over her shoulder for her ex because he had become abusive. In steps the protector, Barclay when Wade, the ex, tracks Molly to Florida and attempts to kidnap her. Can Barclay and Molly grow together and learn to laugh and love again and find their HEA? If you looking for a great read that will make you laugh, angry and pull for the hero and heroine, this is the book. A great read to start the new year. Kudos to Ms. Davis on another hit in the series. Look forward to the next book and all the colorful characters involved. Received a copy of the book for an honest review.

210pgs Not my kind of book. This is the second and last of this author for me. The storyline was slightly better developed in this one compared to the first story in the series, but there wasn't anything to there to keep me interested in the characters or the rest of their stories. It seemed like the author was more focused on the BDSM (not my type of romance reading...wish there was something in the description about that) than a well-developed plot that doesn't seem rushed without the proper details to back it up.

If you're looking for a sexy, new read, with a side of humor, then this is the book for you! I love reading books, and have been an avid reader since I could read as a child. After reading so many books, the plots tend to become monotonous, the characters lack depth, or the story is boring or unoriginal. That is not true with this author! She creates a book that has rooting for the characters, and it made me stay up way past my bed time. The 'meet cute' for these two is very humorous, and I am not sure the last time I laughed so much. I am anxiously looking forward to the next book in the series, and would read any title from this author.
