Meet the Author

I am a computer programmer by trade, and own a business that absorbs between 200 and 300 hours a month; I have a wife and young daughter, and for two days a week to I get to be Mister Mum. Those are the best two days of my week, and being Mister Mum is about the only thing I need to be good at any more. I am further blessed in that working for myself, I can be available for my daughter the other five days when required.I also have five cats, all of them demanding attention whenever the mood strikes them, which is expressed with a vengeful disregard for me that only a cat could express while still retaining its sense of dignity – all other creatures would be deeply ashamed of themselves. Oh, how I wish I were a cat. (The three dogs are much kinder to me, but also rather demanding.Though I write obsessively, life being what it is, I haven’t enough time to dedicate to making the stories letter-perfect. Editorial work falls by the wayside too often, and what I end up with are, at best, rough gems. The first book I posted here was priced as an experiment, and will be free if I can ever proof it again, since my gut feel is that eBooks will never be an economic force in my lifetime, at least for writers. All other books will be free, because it is the only way I can forgive the inability to proof them as they deserve. It reduces the sting of knowing there are some errors in them; and it recognizes that, realistically, few people will actually pay for any product if they can get a similar substitute for free. I have no illusions about my talents as a writer, and know that while I am better than some, I am never going to be the best -- that honour will befall someone new every few hours.I appreciate hearing from readers who have the ability to be ruthless as required, and kind as inspired. Anyone who wants to, can contact me via twitter or my blog or email (frank.buchan@gmail.com, and make the subject line include the word Smashwords so it doesn't get tossed to spam). If you wish a personal reply, combine an email address with some patience and I will do my best. I do ask for polite communications, though. If you're so angry you need to swear at someone, or belittle someone, feel free to direct that toward the actual cause of your grief – my time is too short to expend it fighting pointless battles with strangers and those types of communications end up in my junk mail where they belong. That I even have to write that reminds me how unpleasant contacts made via the Internet can be.Some day, perhaps, I will win a lottery and have the resources to seek editorial perfection in my work; but until then I will still publish what I can, because it is a compulsion that cannot be denied.

    !

Wow! This book grabs you at pg 1 and never lets you go. I finished entire 1018 pg book in less than a day. I had to know what would happen next. To the poster who complained about the f word....high exaggeration. There wasnt 10-15 f words on every pg. It was used in context with what was going on. Yes it was gory, with lurid sexual scenes but rarely is a sexual serisl killer going to speak like a choir boy. If you want edge of your seat thrills and suspense, this is it. Highly recommend

    Graphic but good

I have read the other book by this author so I found myself surpised by how gorey and sexually graphic this story was. Even though it was hard to read through some of the more disturbing scenes, the storyline was exciting enough to hold my interest. Definately not for younger readers.

    Great story line!

Read This book in 3 days. I couldn't put it down. Very graffic, so it's definitely not for someone with a weak stomach. Some grammer and spelling errors, but overall Very well written!!

    So realistic

This book is not for children or the faint hearted. Yes there were f-bombs, yes it was gory, yes it was incredibly realistic and scary. This does not mean the author has a dark mind. He simply knows about dark minds. He is probably just as horrified as the rest of us because he knows this is reality. This stuff goes on all the time. Just because most of us arent exposed to doesnt mean it doesnt happen. What do you think criminal profilers do? They have to get into the minds of sadistic criminals. Does that make them sick? I dont think so! READ the reviews before you buy a book. You critics knew the content. It is hypocritical to critisize a book when you had access to reviews before hand that should have prevented you from buying it in the first place. For those of you who like to read crime novels, this one is the most accurate and engrossing one I have ever read. Phyl P

    Repulsive

This author has to have a very disturbed dark side to go to such lengths to write this filth. Total explicit sex horror scenes and nobody should read this crap. I put it down quickly.

    Graphic

A good read. If you are offended by sexual crimes, this is not for you. The story may be sexually offensive, but unfortunately it is true crime. Outside of that, I found the story compelling and kept my intetest. Read if you are not offended by sexual gore.

GRAPHIC is an understatement… OUTSTANDING is also. Loved this book, 1018 pages that gives time to really build a book and characters. Someone said there was a lot of the F word, LOL I don’t remember that at all., you become so entrenched in the book. As one reviewer said this is NOT about choir boys….My thought is..... It’s FREE give it a chance and if you don’t like it you can always toss it.

    Disturbing

This book was 1000 pages long. The forward ect. took up 18 pages. This was a very disturbing book. It left me feeling unsettled, scared and sick to my stomach. If a sane mind can make up a scenario like this, what can an insane person think up and perform while free? The f word was used freely but not to the extinct another reviewer claimed it was. I am also of the mind that this novel took place in Canada. Although some acts occurred in the northern United States. The sexual acts in this book were horrendous and consisted mostly of sodomy and to young girls. There were many victims, so be prepared. I usually do not go into many story details, in case I give key points away, but in the case of this novel, the reader should know just what type of story, they are going to become involved with. I use the word involved, because this book is so graphic and detailed, it is as if the reader is actually watching the events happen from a hidden nook or cranny not far from the crimes being committed. As I was reading, I was reminded of Silence of the Lambs and the original Last House on the Left. The editing was not the best, the spelling a little off and some words were omitted. As I too, make writting errors, even if I proof, these were not a big deal. This is an adults only book. It is extremly disturbing. Read at your own risk. I think men might enjoy this book more then women. While I could not put it down, it still freaked me out and I can usually read anything without a shiver.

For mature readers with enough life experience to understand life can be very dark

The author did a fabulous job of presenting a deeply disturbing subject and the work that goes into solving such crimes. I was drawn in immediately and found the pace excellent.

    It was okay

This book is very bloody and sexually disturbing. The general story line was interesting, but it is written poorly. I knew from other reviews that it was going to be vulgar and violent, so I was prepared for that. The characters are under developed so it mmakes it hard to really rememberwho is who. If the author had taken some of the detail he used on the viscious rapes and murders and used that for his character building it would have come across as a more readable book.

    Excellent

Hard book to put down...However, lots of "criminal" sexual explicate scenes, as it is about tracking down a cereal rapist.

    Very dark

This book is distubing on so many levels. Though we know these things happen the deprevity is very difficult to read. Due to the disturbing grafic nature i had to skip over those parts about half way through. Personally i found it heart wrenching; especially knowing children are abused to this degree everyday. The author had to go to a very dark place to write a book such as this and though i dont believe he has a sick mind he could have toned it down and still made his point. This is not a book i will keep or recommend. Use caution when thinking of reading it. It is not an easy read as some have lead you to believe. It is gripping, shocking and extremely violent.
