Fallon McLeod has gifts any warrior would covet—fierce strength, unmatched skill, even immortality. But those gifts have come at a price that puts everyone he loves at risk. Only when his brother, Quinn, is taken captive does Fallon leave the seclusion of his Highland home to seek the king’s aid. And though every woman at court would gladly be his for the asking, one alone causes desire to roar to life within him: beautiful, mysterious Larena Monroe.
Rumors swirl around the castle about “The McLeod” but Larena knows the truth. Like Fallon, Larena is searching for a way to vanquish the evil Druid who wants to wreak havoc on earth. Drawn to Fallon in spite of her fear, she surrenders to a passion that shocks them both with its raw intensity. But Larena dares not hope for more—not when she holds a secret that could turn her fiery Highland love against her forever…
The McLeod brothers (Fallon, Lucan and Quinn) were descendents from a cadre of warriors created by Druids to repel the Romans from Scotland and England. For three centuries the siblings hid from Deirdre who wants their magic. However in 1603, Lucan meets his soulmate (see Dangerous Highlander), but Quinn was captured by their enemy.
In Edinburgh Fallon meets and falls in love with Lady Larena Monroe. He is shocked to realize she is a warrior; the only female he ever met. She accompanies Fallon to the McLeod estate, a haven for warriors and Druids. As Deirdre assaults the stronghold, Fallon plans to rescue his brother, but first proposes to his beloved. She wants to say yes, but knows she conceals from her beloved a dark secret that will turn his love to loathing.
The second McLeod brother historical fantasy is a terrific tale with a nice twist that readers will know is coming yet Donna Grant makes the spin fun to follow. The story line is fast-paced and is more than just a middle book as Fallon's fate is decided. With Quinn still held captive by the obsessed Deirdre, sub-genre fans will be impatient for his Dark Sword legend as the audience anticipates his confrontation with his much stronger jailer.

FORBIDDEN HIGHLANDER by Donna Grant is a spellbinding historical romance set in 1603 Edinburgh, Scotland. It is the second in A Dark Sword Novel, but can easily be read as a stand alone. Some of the characters from the first book Dangerous Highlander reappear in this one also.It has danger, romance, sensuality, secrets, passion, demons, druids, an extremely evil witch who is after more power, dark magic, find their destinies, true love and a battle to overcome an ancient curse. The hero, Fallon is the eldest of the MacLeod brothers( Fallon, Lucan, and Quinn). We meet Lucan in Dangerous Highlander. Fallon is strong, handsome, is immortal due to his demon, drank to much to try to keep his demon at bay,is battling guilt from not being able to save his family, and falls for the beautiful Larena. The heroine, Larena,is beautiful, has a dark secret, fears for her life, needs the MacLeod clan to help her. For Larena is also has a demon, a female demon one of few, if not the only one known. She holds the secret to how to vanquish the evil druid who wishes to wreak havoc on earth and mankind.Sparks fly between Fallon and Larena for she is able to open his heart and his soul. The story is about Fallon and Larena and their quest to find true love. I would highly recommend this book especially if you enjoy romance, passion, dark, sensual and enchanting reading. It is fast paced page turning and will keep you on the edge of yours seat. I am waiting for the next installment to learn about the younger brother Quinn, who has been captured by the evil witch and the MacLeods out to free and destroy the evil witch. This book was received for review and details can be found at St. Martins Paperbacks and My Book Addiction and More.

I was waiting for this book to be released and had it marked on my calendar. I just loved the first book of the series, Dangerous Highlander, but after reading Forbidden Highlander--I liked it Not so Much. I just could not find the plot. The eldest brother is Fallon and this is his story. We first met Fallon in "Dangerous Highlander" and he was lost in his drinking, sloth and self-pity. Unfortunately, he was more interesting in the first book than this one. Boy, that's harsh, but I think I said that because I am so disappointed and had high expectations for this book. In Forbidden Highlander, Fallon meets and falls in love with the good chick, cleans and rebuilds the castle, thought about his brother Quinn currently held captive by the evil chick, and that was about it. I kept asking myself, What is the point of this plot? Where is the plot? I was left plot-less.
Nonetheless, I have the third book in the series, "Wicked Highlander" marked on my calendar! Donna Grant is a very good writer, and I'm hoping that the third book is just as good or better than the first one. I still recommend reading this book because of the writing.

Once again the Pre-Order pricing is higher than the actual paperback. I have a hard time beliving that B&N can not "negotiate" same if not lower pricing for a paperless product. If we waited 6 months we could have bought Border's ebook for $100+ less and received cheaper books. Kindle's book price is cheaper as well.

i liked this ebook but for me the first one was better. i am about to read the 3rd one. i payed to much for this ebook.it is a shame that i could have bought the book cheaper than i could the ebook. i didnt look in time or i would have instead. we are being taken advantage of and evidently the publishers are under the asumption that we will continue to pay these prices. granted his has taken me awhile to figure out that i have to look before i buy, but i will from now on.
