Overview

There is desire in deception...
On a bloody Victorian battlefield, the penniless soldier of fortune, Dar St. Onge, has just been recruited for a covert mission to uncover the dark secrets of a mysterious family by taking the place of its dying heir, Ducas Sangbourne, a man who looks enough like him to be his twin.
...lust behind fear...
From the moment he arrives at Sangbourne Manor, Dar enters a world of unimagined privilege and wealth, where every decadent craving is gratified, every erotic fantasy is fulfilled, and the sins of the past simmer just below the surface. Dar must navigate a minefield of things he doesn't know, and raw emotions he's never felt before to even scratch the surface of the secrets of Sangbourne Manor. But nothing can prepare him for the half-gypsy Angene, who is determined to become Ducas's mistress. Wholly feminine, exotically beautiful, and too suspicious of him by far, she has the power to destroy him -- when she isn't bringing him to his knees with her warm, willing sensuality...
...and danger in total surrender.
Now, as darkness settles over Sangbourne Manor, a powerful and unholy menace is gathering force, an unnatural bloodlust that hides behind the veneer of society and threatens everything Dar has ever wanted. In this opulent world where everything has a price and no payment is too steep, two suspicious lovers will have to learn to trust each other as Dar battles body and soul to claim his woman and his destiny.

From Barnes & Noble
The Barnes & Noble Review
Thea Devine heats up another erotic romance in this historical marked by betrayal, deception, and sexual fantasies. The time is 1899; the place, South Africa. Orphan soldier Dar St. Onge is recruited to play the part of the traitor Ducas Osborne, a dying man who could pass as his double. Dar returns to England, feigning amnesia, and steps cautiously into Ducas's life. His mission: to uncover Ducas's secrets, "kill" him again, and make good his escape. But he hasn't reckoned on the lush, decadent world of Sangborne Manor, the mysterious forces trying to stop him, or the changeling Angene, who pretends to have been Ducas's lover and now must put that deceit to the test. Even as Angene and Dar play out their parts in an affair that turns ever more passionate, the unholy secrets of Ducas's life threaten not only their future but that of Sangborne Manor and the neighboring villages. over all not bad

not a fan of the vampire genre but she did a good job considering and unlike her other books there wasn't page after page of sex scenes, this story was actually developed and there was some romance i also found the villain quite entertaiing

    Forever Kiss

I love to read this woman's books and this was written quite well but I was surprised by it. I was expecting her great erotic story as usual but not with the vampire twist. No one can write like Thea and we all enjoy her books but I felt this one left a little bit to by desired when it came to the vampire thing. I did enjoy it and do not hesitate to pick it up because you will not be disappointed with it. It was just a surprise..

    Forever Kiss

I have everything she has written and I will save this one but I was hoping for the erotic book of the year. What I got was an erotic book and a vamprie book combined. It was not bad as an erotic but the vampire thing kept getting in the way. As far as the vampire thing was concerned it needed more meat not blood, if you will pardon the pun. I was somwhat dissapointed but then again I was not expecting Thea to write this type of book.

powerfully written paranormal erotic historical romance

In 1899 in a South African hospital, Ducas Sangborne lies dying when The Colonel, noticing the uncanny resemblance to mercenary Dar St. Onge, recruits the latter to masquerade as Ducas back in England. The Colonel believes that Dar will easily gain entrance to mysterious Sangborne Manor. He needs to uncover the identity of the traitor that caused the death of many English soldiers on the battlefield. Reluctantly, Dar accepts the undercover operation though he is a bit shook that the almost dead Ducas could have been his twin.
Dar arrives ¿home¿ faking amnesia to cover his lack of knowledge about his parents, his home and himself (or should that be of Ducas). To his surprise gypsy woman Angene claims that she is his mistress something he wants very badly but as Dar, but not as a masked imitator. He also fears entanglement will interfere with his mission and his need to find out who is killing manor residents leaving their blood drained like the Stroker's vampire.
THE FOREVER KISS is a powerfully written paranormal erotic historical romance that contains a strong plot and two intense delightful protagonists. Though ¿twins¿ have been used as a mechanism in many novels, the story line still grips the audience from the moment the Colonel realizes that Dar and Ducas must have been adjoined at the hip. Though Thea Devine needs to leave out the unneeded shock value profanities that no one, even a gangsta rapper, uses in her manner of speaking, erotic romance readers will still appreciate a well-written heated tale.
Harriet Klausner
