I was not expecting it to only be 38 pages. I thought I had downloaded a sample of it. This is a waste of money!!

First, I want to say this isn't a BOOK, it's a short story (being too short for even a novelette). That in of it's self is disappointing considering you must pay for it, but the poor writing makes this story truly terrible. The inconsistent 'accent' of the characters was distracting, first they used proper English, then Scottish intonations. The misspellings and grammar were also distracting. Unfortunately, it was the absolutely horrible writing that earned this story only one star. First our heroine has black hair, then light brown hair, then she has black hair once again. Our hero and heroine flash between anger and seriousness and uncontrollable passion, all in the space of once sentence and after knowing each other only moments. And, evidently, we need to be reminded that our hero's shirt is saffron over and over again! Dialog ranged between stilted to sophomoric to downright childish (and back again) all in the space of a page. Our hero's entire life, in fact one of the main premises of the story, was to kill our villain, until nearly the end when he decided to turn our villain over to the king! Really? But, I think it was the fact that the story took place over two or three days and our hero and heroine went from complete strangers to utterly committed soul mates in that short time is what stretched the realm of reality too far. Even though the 'book' was very short, I found myself skipping parts just to get to the end. If this is a sampling of her work I can't see myself reading any other of her books, not with this one so painful to read.

Didn't like that the story never really developed. Way too short without presenting a good story.

Lame, lame, lame, lame, lame. This "book" is not worth the 99 cents I paid for it. Don't waste your cash, even 99 cents. Did I mention that this book is lame?

Jean MacKay isn't sure she is going to survive when she is taken prisoner by Niall MacDougall. Not sure how she is going to manage to escape Niall and his men are surrounded by the man those in the Highlands call "the ghost". Once she sees Braden MacAlister for the very first time she knows her life will never be the same again.
Braden MacAlister has been after Niall since Niall killed Braden's family. The only thing Braden has been after is vengeance and to stop the man responsible. Just when Braden thinks he is about to stop Niall once and for all Niall uses Jean as a shield to stop Braden. Niall knows the one thing Braden will never let happen is an innocent to be used.
Braden has had only one goal in mind but once he sets eyes on Jean his priorities change and now he needs to find a way to bring Niall to justice but also find a way for Jean and him to have a future together because suddenly Braden wants a future he never thought he would have a chance at. Braden and Jean will risk everything to stand together and bring down Niall but more importantly to have a chance at what their hearts are telling them and a love that will last a lifetime.
This is a short story that is a great way to take a break and escape to the highlands. The story is quick with enough twists to keep the reader turning the pages until the very end. The characters are well written and come to life for the reader. This is a story that is definitely worth picking up and reading. The reader won't be disappointed in this one. It is another excellent story from this author.

Braden MacAlister is brutally handsome Highlander on a quest to avenge the death of his family and kill man responsible. Niall is a cruel and sadistic man that enjoys killing and wreaking havoc throughout the clans. Jean MacKay is saved by the handsome Braden after having been taken prisoner by Niall. Enamored by him and grateful for all he has done Jean vows to do all she can to help him stop his enemy. With his personal vendetta fueling him, Braden is unprepared for the emotions Jean wells up within him. They quickly find themselves falling for one another, but love can't stop Braden from his quest. Knowing that it is the only way, Braden and Jean band together with a group of other clansmen and Braden's men and they set off on a journey to finally stop Niall. With his love for Jean and his need to avenge his family driving him, Braden is a force to be reckoned with. This novella is full of passion fueled a little by lust and a lot by revenge. Another spectacular Highlander read by the talented Donna Grant.

This is a passionate Scottish Romance , that has a little of everything in it , action , heartache , lust and betrayal. I really enjoyed how Author Donna Grant brought it alive by using Scottish slang throughout the story.
I loved this short story. Donna Grant is a great writer and I have read many of her books.
