Forever More: The Greatest Hits of John Teshby John Tesh
Love, victory, and victorious love -- almost all of John Tesh's music embraces one of these moods, and this compilation of his greatest hits covers all the bases. A frequent composer of TV sports themes, Tesh stretches for the finish line with three tracks from The Games as well as "Barcelona" (charged by Charlie Bisharat's fiery violin work) from Live at Red Rocks. Tesh has moved toward a smooth jazz sound in recent years, adding the soulful sounds of vocalist James Ingram and alto saxman Warren Hill to his albums One World and Grand Passion. Tesh also includes world music elements in two selections here, the title track from One World and "Spanish Steps" from Avalon. My personal preference is for Tesh's softer, more introspective music, such as the title tune from Discovery and "Bastille Day" from The Games. (I also would have included more from One World in my own list of top Tesh.) Whatever your favorite -- or least favorite -- musical style, Forever More demonstrates the range of Tesh's talents. And a man with that amount of victory in his soul will keep evolving, no matter how he's pegged by the critics.
