Overview

Forensic pathologist Janis Amatuzio has performed thousands of autopsies. She chose her line of work in part because it allowed her to help unravel the mystery of each person’s death. She found that by listening and talking to the loved ones of the deceased, she could offer them some sense of closure. In the course of her work, she has heard extraordinary stories from grieving loved ones, patients near death, police officers, clergy members, and colleagues — stories of spiritual and otherworldly occurrences concerning the transition between life and death.

From the experience of one of her first patients — who on the day of his death told of being “visited” by a friend who had been dead forty years — to incredible coincidences — such as two daughters thousands of miles apart experiencing unexplained sensations at the precise moment their father passed away — Dr. Amatuzio began recording the stories she heard and filing them away. Forever Ours presents these heartfelt accounts and honors the mystery of life and death, exploring the realms of visions, synchronicities, and communications on death’s threshold. Told in the voice of a compassionate scientist and medical expert who sees death every day, these stories eloquently convey the comfort Dr. Amatuzio has found in what she sees and hears.

    Wonderful read!

After experiencing situations in my own personal life, it was wonderful to read about other people's experiences. We are all tied together as humans and I find it comforting to know that people may not be as "gone" as they might seem. Tiny little signs can show you that loved ones are still thinking of you. This book brought me to tears at several times, not sad, but bittersweet. Excellent read for anyone who has recently, or even not so recently lost someone in their life.

I didn't want this book to ever end! The stories of dying patients this author writes about are so interesting, and makes you really think... Is there something after death? It is such a good read!

    A reviewer

I am a hospice nurse and have frequently wondered about the 'death experience' from the perspective of the dying person. This book has given me such a sense of peace about death and dying. I appreciated the fact that these stories were based on factual events and conversations that the author had with the patients and/or their loved ones. I wish I could find more books with data this descriptive. I had goosebumps through the entire book. I HIGHLY reccomend this book to anyone who may have questions about loved ones they have lost. What a comfort!

    Couldn't Put it down

This is an amazing book that helped me open my eyes to some of the things in life that you normally don't see. It isn't all about solving the crime or case, its what comes out of it in the end. I read this entire book on a 2 1/2 hour plane ride. 5+++ stars!

    Beautiful

This book is calming and reassuring. In simple unpretentious words the author shares stories of her own experiences and stories that families have shared with her. I am so grateful that she is spreading the word of love and life-the word that so many souls have shared with their loved ones after they have died. Thank you for this book.

    Great writing

This book helped me to better comprehend and deal with the death of my mother. The stories in this book exude compassion, understanding, and hope. It should be required reading for all medical personnel, care givers, and survivors. Thanks for the read.
