A good look at love and abuse

Cherisse takes a call from her sister that will forever change her life. Her sister Shelly is living in an abusive relationship and needs a place to stay until her husband calms down. But it doesn't go exactly as planned. Before the night is over Cherisse will meet a man that will help not only her, but her sister.

The book deals with abuse, grief and love. The Prologue begins with Cherisse writing about how her doctor told her that perhaps writing about her grief would help her get past the pain. So you know that there will be sad parts from the very beginning. The author warned me that the book would be sad, but it was also nice to have the warning at the beginning. Just in case I wanted to have some tissues handy.

There are some books that capture your interest from the very beginning and never let go. When I get a book like this I am so into the book that I fail to notice what is going on around me, I don't notice if something is worded wrong or misspelled. The world fades and I begin living the story.
This is just that sort of book. I couldn't put the book down. The subject of spousal abuse was handled so well. It really showcased what is going on in the lives of these poor women. This book is labeled as fiction, but truly felt like I was reading a true story. The main character is telling her story in first person. So I felt like I was given an even closer look into her life by hearing the story in her own words.

I HATE sad stories, but I would read this book again, it was that good. And also to be fair, only about 2 chapters are sad. The story ends well and left me feeling thankful for my wonderful husband in more ways than one. I appreciated the way the author showcased a beautiful marriage and an abusive one. It leaves hope for the abused wife that there are wonderful marriages out there.
I would highly recommend this book and can't wait to read the author's next book.

I received this book free of charge in exchange for my honest review.

Powerful subject matter woven into a love story, equal to Nicholas Sparks

This author has found a way to take powerful subject matter and weave it into a love story in a way that I've only ever seen Nicholas Sparks be able to do well. This story is so well written that the reader is compelled to invest in the characters, wonder what will happen next, and simply not be able to put the book down. Long after I finished Forever Sunshine, the characters were stuck in my head--like great fiction should. Collette Scott has just won me as a new reader for her novels, and I have willingly gone! I rarely rate a book five stars. I only do it when the balance between characterizations and plot is perfected, the writing superb, and the storyline unique. Buy the book; you won't regret it.

Outstanding First Book, A Great Read

I've read books that I can't put down, that grab you in the first few pages and draw you into the characters lives. This book does all that and leaves a lasting emotional impact. Great character development with a storyline that goes deeper than a typical romance. The story is well developed and current. Definitely a good read.

Oh My Gosh. . . What a powerful book!

Beautiful, moving, loving, tragic, sad, I read the last chapters through blurred vision, due to tears.
I encourage everyone to read this one.
    Thank you Ms Scott.

    WOW

This was an amazing story with so much truth to it. Very hard to put down, I read the last few chapters while crying my eyes out. It took me two days to read the end of the book because it was so emotional. Collette is a wonderful author who makes her characters seem so real. I have enjoyed all her books but this is my favorite. Now time to read Hannahs Blessing.

What a Fantastic love story about the true meaning of love

Like many other reviews have said, this book will pull you in from the start and not let you go. I loved the fact that it focused on domestic violence but did not bogg down with so many details. It showed you true love for all of the characters it this book. The relationships were so real that you felt every emotion described and for that I can only say "WOW!!!!"

This is a great author. Thank you for writting a wonderful story. I would give it a 10 if I could. Read it, you will not be sorry.

Just make sure the tissues are handy for the last couple of chapters because it tugs at the heart strings. Enjoy.

This was an awesome book that i couldn' t put down once i started. I usually don't like sad books but this one was worth the tears. The last two chapters really get to you. Every once in awhile you need a good cry and this definitely took care of that. It really was a great read and i would definitely recommend it.

One of the best I've read

I couldn't put this book down. Even though I rarely recommend books to my friends and family this is one that I have.

I also contacted the author to find out why her most recent books are not available for the Nook (they are in the works) because I wanted to read them. I have read both of her books that are currently available for the Nook and they both are excellent books.

    Lady J February, 2012

I read this book in one sitting, I could not put it down. The story is about real love for her spouse as well as family. This story resore my faith for an author who knows the true meaning of love. The author has written only two books that I'm aware of and I read both. Just want to salute this author, job well done. KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK!!!

    Love

This is a sad but an amazing story... The last few chapters were read through tears and it leaves you with a heavy heart. But this story is worth the read. I love to read stories were people find there one true love and thats what this story bring but it brings a truth to it that not all fairy tales have a happy ending and its a sad truth... Such a good but sad story. Worth a read! You wont be disappointed... might have an empty box of tissue afterwards but its worth it

    Great read!

I have read both of the author's books available on the Nook. I loved this book! I loved the characters. The last chapters were heartwrenching. The kind of love the characters shared is the kind that we all dream of. What a great book!
