England, 1667

Sensible Clarice Bradford is content in her widowhood. She has a pretty one-room cottage and a lovely little daughter, and the last thing she wants is another husband. Until one fairytale evening when she's invited to a wedding at a castle...

Scottish gentleman Sir Cameron Leslie is smitten with the shy, English beauty at first sight. He's fiercely drawn to the very strength and independence that make her unwilling to throw caution to the wind and bestow her heart on a younger man. Though passion flares between them, it will take everything Cameron can muster to reawaken Clarice's long-forgotten dreams of true love...

Meet the Author

I decided to become a writer in the third grade (or, as my Canadian friends call it, grade three), after winning a "Why My Mother is the Greatest" essay contest and having my entry published in a major newspaper. Seeing my words in print was a thrill! But everyone told me it's too hard for novelists to get published, so after college I spent fourteen years as the CEO of my own jewelry store chain before writing my first book. A mistake? Maybe...but my first heroine, Amethyst, was a jeweler, so at least I took advantage of that wise old saying, "Write what you know." And I learned a good lesson: Don't let other people tell you what you can or can't do!

I write humorous historical romance mostly set in England and Scotland in the 17th and 19th centuries (Restoration and Regency periods). I've been oh-so-lucky to see my books hit bestseller lists all over the world, including the New York Times and USA Today lists, making this second career a real dream come true. I live in Southern California with my family and a constantly shedding cat, and I still think my mother is the greatest!

I absolutely enjoyed this book. Its nice to see an author that can write an entire story without harsh language with a love scene. Absolutely adorable in my opinion.

A 180 page well-written free romance Reformation England story of a widowed village woman, her adopted daughter, and the handsome Scot from the castle wedding party. This story is a continuation from previous books in series. Joy, laughter, romance, angst, and ends with explicit love sex scene. An excerpt for another book also included.

~4.5 Stars~ Hero: 8/10 Heroine: 7/10 Sizzle: 3/10 Romance: 10/10 Humor: ~/10 Secondary Characters: 7/10 End: 10/10 Pace: 10/10 I was very surprised with how much I enjoyed this book. The end was so sweet that I just grinned like a doofus. My only issue lies with the heroine and her insecurities that played like a broken record throughout the tale. But I admired the hero's patience with her. Had it been me, I would have bashed my head into a wall. @_@ Nevertheless, I liked this story a lot. And I absolutely loved that the hero was younger than the heroine. I'm adding this to my Keeper Shelf for future re-reads.

A very good read. Loved the characters and even though it was a short novella, 157 pages, the story line was well developed and thourly enjoyable.

Too short or there needs to be a sequel.
