Loved it! I was completely hooked on this book from the start. The characters, the action, the pacing, the clean writing, the romance - all were winners for me. Thrusting ourselves into Theo's world as a Gatekeeper to Hades, where he has patiently waited nearly a millennia to find his Mate, we start this story right where Sadie is thrust into this world as well. But the road to fate is not easy or risk-free. There are demons intent on destroying their potential before it even has a chance to bloom. And forgetting the demons, is Sadie even ready for this world and life that has thrown a major wrench in her plans?
Starting with the main characters, this was one of those wonderful times when I genuinely liked both the main characters. There were no major issues for me to get past. And that not only made them likable in my eyes, but also perfect as "Mates." Theo, our 911-year-old Gatekeeper, has the patience of 100 saints combined. He takes his role seriously, he treasures his friendship with "The Great One," he is loyal to his brother Justin, and he has been considerately saving himself for the day he finally gets to meet his Mate. I loved his trust in the process, his patience with Sadie, and his fierce protectiveness. Nobody gets between him and his Mate! Then there's Sadie, our awesome kick-butt heroine. I love that we get a fierce, strong, intelligent, independent woman who has a black belt, a college degree at 18, and isn't about to be pushed into anything she's not ready for. But when she's committed to something (or someone), she becomes a fierce protector as well. There is no cowering from this girl, and it makes her character all the more refreshing.
As for action and pacing, there was never a dull moment. Every chapter has something new, something exciting, or something dangerous. One moment we think we're going one way, then a new twist hits and we're thrown in a new direction. One moment we feel safe, then the next some new obstacle is thrown in our path. I felt on the edge of my seat and loved it. These demons are scary, these situations are frequently death-defying, the enemy is not backing down anytime soon, and our people need to stay on their toes at all times. Makes for exciting reading.
We also get the build-up of a beautiful relationship between Theo and Sadie. Yes, this deals with soul-mates, so be warned if you are not a fan of that concept. But I also liked that their relationship still took time, and trust, and had all the usual insecurities and hesitations you would expect in a normal relationship. Sadie was cautious, and didn't just jump into anything blind. Theo also, though eager for his Mate, was also considerate and sensitive, taking his time in the relationship, but also being honest about his needs. And as their relationship blossomed, I really felt their connection and completely loved how things progressed. Beautiful.
This appears to be the first in a series, though I don't know what the next book will be. But there is no cliffhanger at the end of this book, so you are safe to read and get to know these amazing characters, this well-developed story, be plunged into their danger-filled world, and be swept away in a beautiful romance. I loved this book and look forward to whatever comes next.

Forged By Fate by Reese Monroe
I give this book 5 stars
This review is my own opinion and will be posted on my blog and linked with Booksniffer Review Tours, for the release of Book 2 Marked by Hades.
I don't like to give away a great story in a review, so the book synopsis is as follows:
He’s waited more than 900 years to love her…
Being the Gatekeeper to Hades is no small feat, and waiting almost a millennia to meet your mate is damn near impossible. But Theo Bradford’s mark has finally surfaced on his intended. Now all he has to do is find her and convince her to embrace her supernatural heritage.
Young genius, Sadie Nowland, has got life figured out. Graduating college at the age of eighteen and accepting a six-figure job is just what she needs to prove she’s made something of herself. But when a strange tattoo mysteriously appears on her shoulder and Theo starts talking about Mates, it catapults her neatly laid out life into chaos.
Targeted by a vicious demon escaped from Hades, Sadie is thrust into the volatile world of Shomrei warriors and a connection to Theo her brain can’t comprehend and her body can’t deny. That primal bond proves more imperative to their survival than either could have ever imagined—and just may be the key to the world’s survival.
In this New Adult tale of Good versus Evil, Reese Monroe gives us a new take on angels and demons, with the addition of a supernatural being called a "Gatekeeper," or "Shomrei," created by the breath of God. They may look like incredibly hot humans, (male and female) but they have extraordinary powers to battle the demons who sneak into the human world.
This book had me hooked by the first chapter, it's well written, has great characters, Theo, the Gatekeeper is the main male character, with Sadie his intended mate, she's not too happy about the 'Great One' throwing a spanner in her hard worked for plans of a future working for a big company. She's been on her own most of her life, but she's smart, dedicated, she focused on her education and finished college early, is a black belt and can hold her own... When you are short, it pays to learn to defend yourself against bullies!
I also liked Theo's 'companion' his Brother Justin his character reminded me of Dean Winchester from supernatural, all smart talk, sass and hotness, a love em and leave em kind of guy, who vows never to take a mate, because although finding their mate is great, helps in the fight against evil, it also has it's downsides.
Justin loves teasing Theo for 'saving himself' for his mate... But he has Theo's back when needed, going above and beyond to help Theo win Sadie's heart.
Sadie has a sidekick too, Darsha she's also a little spitfire and she takes all the weird supernatural happenings in her stride, to be there to support her best friend, she's Sadie's family.
The Author, Ms. Monroe does an awesome job creating a world of the supernatural hidden from the human world. The Story is told from alternative POV's between Theo and Sadie, and I didn't find it confusing or hard to follow as I have some stories told this way.
During this book there is a lot of sizzling almost-sex scenes between Theo and Sadie, which I found refreshing, finally she finds the answers she's been searching for and they consummate their destiny together.
The scenes are well written, I could visualise the fight sequences easily, got caught up in the emotions... Overall I was captivated and engrossed the whole way through.
It is a series but doesn't end on a cliffhanger, and the second book is due out soon
so you won't have to wait too long to continue the series, which will focus on Justin but all the other characters are there too, and the battle to keep the balance of good and evil will continue.
I think Ms. Monroe has created a series that I will be wanting to re-read, and hope it continues to grow, as the supporting characters, world building and mythology behind the series is captivating and I want more.
If you like stories of angels battling with demons, with a healthy dose of smouldering passion thrown in for good measure, check out this Book and of course Ms. Monroe's other books.

I found the story Forged by Fate to be a great paranormal romance.
Theo and Sadie were an awesome couple.. and brought the story line together well. The travails and stubbornness was expected yet still had some surprise factors. It was fast paced and much going on but all in all was a good start to a series and look forward in checking book 2.

I just finished reading Forged by Fate and I can't gush enough! There's action and romance and steam and friendship and brotherhood and suspense and I loved it!
The first thing that caught my attention was the Mates thing. I've read about it before but I didn't like it. I expected more from this book and am satisfied!
Sadie and Theo are Mates, as in they're meant for each other. Poor Sadie is an orphan. She's a genius and graduating university at 18, ready to start a well-paying and coveted job. So of course she resists Theo and his ideas of mating and all. It was good to see her thinking things through and not just jumping his bones. Poor Theo, though, has waited for 911 years for this moment. He wants Sadie so bad but waits for her.
Sadie's not as normal as it seems. It's dual pov so you get to see Theo's reactions to her as well. Together, they face several demons and incidents that pull them towards each other. As they grow closer, their sweetness will wow you. Theo is so patient and honest! And he's a freaking virgin! I love reading about virgin boys falling in love ;)
As they approach the matter of Mates they have to face the changes in them, and an enemy that seems impossible to beat.
Forged by Fate is sweet and thrilling and interesting all the way till the end. It's so worth reading!!

Forged by Fate by Reese Monroe is the 1st book in her Bound by Hades series. I was not sure how this book would be, nor did I know Reese Monroe. Having said that, I loved it; and Reese Monroe is now being added as an author I want to read.
Forged by Fate begins as we meet our hero, Theo, who it turns out is a powerful supernatural. Theo is a Gatekeeper of Hades, who vanquishes the demons back to hell, and was created by the Great One. His brother Justin, is his companion, someone who is not as powerful, but who is responsible for helping the gatekeeper. Justin is the funny and womanizing one. Theo is reserved, serious and dedicated to his responsibilities; he also remains celibate all these years, waiting for his mate. Theo now knows his mate, whom he has waited for over 900 years is now ready for his claiming.
Sadie is our heroine, and we meet her as she prepares for her graduation, and moving on to a promising career. Sadie is a genius, having graduated with high honors, and is also a black belt. Around her 18th birthday, she discovers a strange tattoo on her shoulder and from there on her life begins to change. She is getting stronger, and slowly, especially after meeting Theo, begins to gain more powers. Theo, a gorgeous hunk, introduces himself as her mate. Sadie at first, freaks out, trying to keep her distance from Theo. Shortly after, she sees demons, who are after her, gets kidnapped and taken to Hades; where Theo will rescue her. Theo and Justin try to help Sadie understand her destiny, and despite her original disbelief, she slowly realizes her life as she knew it is over.
The story was non stop action, as Theo, Sadie, Justin and their friends find themselves under attack by Demons, who have gained abilities to get past Theo’s Gatekeeper powers. As Sadie learns more, she discovers that she will be the one to help stop evil from taking over, and must find the answers before it’s too late. Along the way, both Theo and Sadie find themselves in very dangerous & deadly situations.
Reese Monroe has created a fantastic New Adult fantasy storyline with Gatekeepers, Demons, God, Lucifer, Angels and Humans. The characters she has created are awesome: Theo is a wonderful hero, not only gorgeous, powerful, a real hunk, but he is sweet and totally devoted to Sadie. Sadie is a fabulous heroine, as she is strong, independent, brave, and has no qualms stepping up to take control. They are fabulous together, as we watch their romance build slowly. Justin, whom I loved; Sadie’s friend Dasha; Halena, a female gatekeeper, all play major parts in the story.
The best part of the story is watching Sadie come into her own, gaining some awesome powers, discovering the truth about the parents she never knew, coming to terms with what she is & will be, and seeing her fall in love with Theo. This was a beautiful romance with an awesome couple. The story keeps you engrossed from the start to the exciting climax. I hope Reese Monroe continues with more Theo and Sadie, so we learn more about them; and hopefully the charismatic Justin will get his story. This was a great fun action filled story, and a new wonderful author to add to your list, as I have done.

This was a perfect combination of genres - New Adult and Paranormal Romance! This was a quick and easy read that built up a little slowly, but then bam you are in the middle of crisis. The heroine, Sadie Nowland is a tough, kick butt heroine with a black belt. I really liked her character because there was no way that she was a damsel in distress. The hero, Theo Bradford has all the elements of an Edward Cullen for adults. He's steamy, old fashioned with his beliefs, soft and protective of the heroine, but will to destroy anything that threatens Sadie. Although I don't normally like the virgin trope, especially since Theo is like 900 years old, but it was sweet and more believable than most. I also enjoyed his companion/brother Justin. His witty comebacks and dialogue had me laughing throughout the novel. This is a new concept for the paranormal world where everything has been done. I can totally see this as a must-read series! This is an enjoyable read, but it goes fast! It is well-written, well-plotted, great characters and just a great read!

Overall, I am ecstatic to have found another book by one of my favourite authors with a clear talent and love for writing in this genre.
This paranormal read is certainly unique of its own.
Filled with a great combination of suspense, romance, mystery, and action , which keeps the story moving at a rapid pace.
The chemistry between Theo and Sadie is toe curling - I loved there story and every aspect within.
It is Full of intrigue and twists and turns throughout the story, many happy moments * wink * and a well delivered storyline to boot.
I enjoyed the slow pace of the romantic and close moments as well as the tension filled ones that built the storyline. No wham bam thank you mam love story. Sadie and Theo were two very likeable and certainly strong characters. I enjoyed Theo’s characterises, Sadies strong side and Reese Monroe has given us wonderful secondary characters that you will enjoy.
I am a sucker for a man with fangs and Theo is certainly no exception.
Reese Monroe has given the reader a new world , with an array of the paranormal . A fab new series, hot new characters, both male and female and an arry of new creatures with extraodinary traits and a love story that is smouldering.
We have characters within the story that are filled with depth and definition - distinctive characters that make the storyline. Witty dialogue at times and a compelling story that keeps the reader entranced till the very end.
Another kick arse action packed paranormal by this amazing author. I eagerly look forward to more in this series.

Dark and romantic, Forged by Fate was a wonderful New Adult paranormal romance. I enjoyed reading this book and I'm curious to see what's coming up in the series.
Sadie was a great heroine. She was really strong and determined to take care of herself. And, when her reality was turned upside down, she toughed it out and proved herself. Her stubbornness about accepting help from others was a bit frustrating. But, for the most part, I liked her.
Theo was a sweetie. I thought it was so adorable that he waited to long to meet his mate and saved himself for the woman he was destined for. And, he was so completely devoted to Sadie and intensely loyal to his loved ones. I thought he was adorable.
The romance was sweet. Sadie and Theo were adorable together. Their feelings for each other were always clear and deep. There were certainly sparks between them, but not too much. They were lovely together.
My problem with this book, though, was that there was too much going on. Too many things happening at once, too many different mythologies in one place. It was a little too fantastical, with all the coincidences, because, with everything going on at once, there wasn't much explanation. I still enjoyed this book, but this issue kept me from loving it.
The plot was good. I was kept interested the entire way through, though I wasn't totally hooked. I enjoyed the story and the ending was lovely. It seemed like everything was tied up at the end, so I'm curious to see what the author has planned.
Forged by Fate was a lovely New Adult read. I really enjoyed reading it. Lovers of NA romance, if you want something with some magic, then you might want to check this book out.

At first I was afraid this would be a typical boring paranormal romance, boy was I wrong and happy about. Theo is a gatekeeper to Hades, alone for 912 years waiting for his mate. Enter Sadie, 18yr old genius, and you get an adorable couple learning about each other. There were times I felt like we were cramming too many cliches and such into one book but they are done in a way it feels new. I really liked Justin, Theo's brother, Dasha, Sadie's best friend and even Halena. I loved the growth of the relationship between Sadie and Theo before they bumped pelvises and it made it easier for me to feel like it was a romance and not a wham bam mating. I would love to see more of these characters, Justin should be the next to find a mate! Give this 4-41/2 stars!

Forged by Fate sucked me in and chewed me up--fangs and all. I'm so excited about this new series by Reese Monroe and looking forward to more from this world. The characters were awesome! I loved Theo's alpha tendencies, Sadie's fierce strength, Justin's loyalty and calm demeanor, Helena's wisdom, and Dasha's quirks.
There's a sweet passion in this book that builds and builds--and has plenty of happy endings. *winks* I never knew if this time was going to be "the time" and I loved how the author handled the whole situation.
Now lets talk fangs--my favorite. Theo sports a set of canine daggers that he's mostly ashamed of because they remind him of the demons he hunts. Let me tell you, I've never read anything sweeter than watching this territorial alpha male get all shoulders-and-shucks when he accidentally bares them for the first time to Sadie. But, eventually, they were really hot. I wanted to see him take a bite out of her on more than one occasion.
All in all, this is an awesome story with a ton of action, a great cause, and a fantastic love story.
