I've been a big fan of Pet Shop Boys since their early days and played the first two albums repeatedly, but then I found other music to listen to and wasn't that thrilled about their later works. But recently having a nostalgic mindset I played Actually and Please and wondered why I didn't have more recent work - most of their music is upbeat and fun and I enjoy the wit (at that time I was also listening to The Smiths). I looked around and thought FORMAT would be a good way to catch up and I was right. I love almost every song, there is a lot of variety which is good since too much of the original sound can get old. The booklet includes an interview with Tennant and Lowe about each song. I highly recommend this for fans of PSB. I have the 2 cd versions of Please and Actually - apparently these are limited editions as I can't find them around now. The various mixes and B-sides make for a grander assortment of music (which is one reason I bought Format, when I like something I like it a lot). Besides "B-sides" and alternate mixes, FORMAT includes a song they sing with Elton John and a demo they did for Tina Turner (who did not record the song, it seems she is a big fan of IT'S A SIN, I'd love to hear her sing that!). 38 tracks, enjoy!
