The start of this book was so awesome! It pulled you in from the very beginning. The problem was around page 180 when youy realized that this is just a crazy guys fantasies. I dated a guy like him one time, he liked to make up stories to seem more interesting, and one day, he made up a too far fetched story and I realized that it was all just stories. That is what this guy, Forrest, does. He had me until he wrote that people were after him and they were making themselves invisible to attack him. Then it just got crazier from there. At that point, you realize this guy is too young for all the things he says happens and the time frames start to overlap, thats when you are sure. If you want a really good (at least at the beginning) work of fiction, try it out, be thankful that it's free, but if you want something true that won't insult your intelligence, keep looking.

Thanks to the author for sharing. I hope you find your guardian angel and those accountable will be held responsible. Please continue writing. I'm inspired to tell my own story as well. Thank you again!

The story itself was just odd and all over the place. I do understand that Forrest is not a writer, but come on! Isn't this what editors are for. Like I said the story was odd but interesting

Forrest said up front he was not writer and that is apparent BUT the story needed to be told and I hope Janet is found. I understood it to be your uncles prop...he wont let you search?
Dont give up and i hope you find some peace! Another reviewer said it jumped around in the middle and that is true. If you can find a bigger plublishing house you might help with that. Also have you considered trying to get someone like Oprah involved? Might help!

Forrest thank you for having the courage to publish your secrets. I hope you find your guardian angel, too. I also hope you will have peace, joy, and serenity in your life. There are many of us who DO listen and who care about you and your story.

This book started out as a horrendous tale of child abuse and then turned into some wierd conspiracy theory!!!!!! Very unrealistic.

It seems like its going to be a goid book and as you get further in, you realize this man is mentally ill. Its sad that he really believes all this and that people are supporting his dillusions. I was almost angry at the end of this book that i wasted my time reading this.... by the last few chapters i felt like i was getting dumber and dumber. This could have been a good fiction book if he wouldnt have gone so far into left field with some of the stuff he said. Im sooooo glad i didnt waste money. Can you write books and put them on barnes and noble,,,,, im confused if there is independet stories, if so we should be made aware of what we are about to read.

The overview to this book states from the brginning that it is nonfiction which means its a true story and these things happened. Abuse like this was very common in the 50's and 60's because there were no laws to protect children. Some reviewers that gave low ratings mentioned that time lines and wars didn't match up....well if they had read te book understanding that it was nonfiction and paid attention they would have noticed his grandfather or father was in wwii not forrest. He was born in 1050 which in 1971 he was 21 yrs old and had been in the army for 14 months which would have him enlisting in 1969. It was sad that this young man had the life that he did. For a memoir i thought it was very honest and touching. I feel like to read a book like this takes maturity and people who give one and two star ratings and then review on stuff like not knowing what the book was about need to take some extra classes at school because the review for this book was very clear of its content and that it WAS NOT FICTION. Its no wonder our nation ranks low on good education and common sense. Maybe the reviewers that just "didn't get it" and totally missed the facts of the obvious should stick to their video games and comics because they sure don't have a clue about literary styles of writing. Sorry to dis you guys but i see so much of it on my ereader in the reviews. People have no idea what they just read but make sure they review a book that they didn't possess the ability to read in the first place. Please people have some respect for these authors especially when their books are free.

First off, I am sorry that you had to live such a life! It makes me so angry when young children have to live such a life. The parents and the officials that are supposed to protect us and be very betraying.
There were parts of the story which I struggled to stay with and other parts I was confused as there was a lot of jumping around, yearwise. This is understandable as being able to tell a particular story.

During the first part of this book I felt like he was describing me, for the most part! It was kinda weird and cool. I quite enjoyed reading a description of how I felt about myself!
Around page 225, I think, it got a bit stranger, but that didn't last too long.
Overall, the book is very believable, and I personally have known of more than one person as abused as Forrest was...not me, however. I had very loving parents and a wonderful childhood...That's why my heart goes out so much for what he endured. The monsters he talked in the book are the EXACT kind of monsters I have warned my daughter about...the kind that live in human skin.
I love the relationship he had, and still has, with his son. I envision the connection I have with my daughter transcending this life as well! I believe we are connected by a golden thread...our souls.
This is a book well worth reading! I hope Forrest is doing well and has had luck in his special endeavor.

Very hard to follow because he was all over the place. Makes you wonder how much of his memory is foggy because of the drugs.
