Overview

New York Times bestselling author Jacquelyn Frank continues her scorching and sensual new series set in the world of the Nightwalkers, where alluring entities known as Bodywalkers are the vanguards against the raging forces of darkness.

As a mercenary, Leo Alvarez has signed on for a lot—but he never signed on for his best friend becoming host to the soul of an ancient Egyptian pharaoh. Jackson is now inhabited by a Bodywalker, and Leo is forced to grapple with a realm of supernatural beings far more dangerous than anything he’s ever encountered.

But when Jackson is wounded by an attack from a demon god, Leo must team up with another supernatural creature—a Night Angel—to save his friend from utter destruction. With skin as black as midnight, hair as white as snow, and a body of pure perfection, the Night Angel arouses a burning desire in Leo, even as he refuses to be intimidated by her power—or the power of those who would destroy his friend. An unusual alliance is forged, electrified by sexual temptation, and together the two must unite their strengths to bring down a supreme evil.

Editorial Reviews

Publishers Weekly
11/04/2013
The second volume in Frank’s Bodywalkers series (after Forever) is awkwardly plot-heavy, full of tangled politics, and morally unambiguous. The souls of Egyptian royalty inhabit the bodies of modern human hosts; both the Politic, who share nicely, and Templars, who crush the souls of host bodies, are gathering allies and preparing for war. Leo Alvarez was tortured by the sadistic Chatha and has plenty of reason to feel discomfort with the supernatural world opening up around him, but he agrees to work with the beautiful, black-skinned, emotion-reading Night Angel Faith in order to save his best friend, Jackson Waverly, whose soul has been damaged by the imp god Apep. After a powerful Djynn gives Faith and Leo a vision of their possible future marriage, they shyly open up to their attraction. As always, Frank excels in highlighting the lovers’ delight in exploring the strangeness of each other’s bodies, and the heartbreaking tentativeness between Faith and Leo is a delightful break from the grand passions of the Egyptians. I like reading Jacquelyn' s books. She has an interesting ability to develop such different characters. This is the 3rd book in her Night walkers series. Her books are for adults only. They do get to be a bit graphic the farther you read along. Again that's what makes these stories. Leo has been tortured by an imp and by the Night walkers. He has lost all trust in everyone. Faith is a Night Angel. She shows up at the compound just as one of the bad guys attacks. I won't tell a spoiler here but she is amazing! She and Leo must go to a Djinn for help to mend Jackson who is injured. The side stories are great. They almost make you want this to be real. It's better to have read the first books but you can get by as a stand alone. Enjoy!

Forsaken (The World of Nightwalkers #3) by Jacquelyn Frank
    3 ½ of 5 stars

Leo Alvarez is having trouble coping with the fact that his best friend, Jackson, has become a host to a Bodywalker.  He thrust into the supernatural world not trusting any of them.  Jackson is attacked by a demon god leaving him on the brink of death.  With the help of the Night Angel, Faith, Leo sets out on a quest to save Jackson’s life.

Forsaken is a fast-paced  story with an interesting plot.

The characters are fascinating and well developed.  Jacquelyn Frank does an excellent job expressing the characters' emotions and thoughts.  I really enjoyed Leo and Faith’s relationship.  Through knowing Faith, Leo begins to mentally heal from his torture by the Templar in the previous book; thus, trusting his best friend again.

Forsaken is a great book for lovers of paranormal and fantasy.  I’m interested in seeing what else will happen in The World of Nightwalkers.

The Nightwalkers' world is expanding. In this installment, a Night Angel finds love in the most unlikely places, in the arm of the human, Leo Alvarez.

Jacquelyn Frank writes a wonderfully conflicted character in Leo. He loves and is loyal to his friend but still resents and is unsure of the second spirit sharing his body. When his friend is seriously injured, Leo will pull out all the stops to save him.

Leo must deal with his prejudices as well as his growing feelings for the beautiful Night Angel that stands by his side in their quest. It is a tenuous alliance that slowly grows into sexual chemistry and friendship but will Leo be able to give her his unwavering trust...their very survival counts on it.

Forsaken is a fabulous addition to The World of the Nightwalkers. It is sure to please any paranormal romance fan. With its action intense scenes, humorous and witty dialog and ignitable sexual tension, Forsaken made for an utterly entertaining read.

I received this ARC copy of Forsaken from Random House Publishing Group - Ballantine Books in exchange for a honest review. This book is set for publication January 7, 2014.

The third novel of The World of the Nightwalker series is an intriguing and entertaining paranormal romance with refreshingly unique elements.
Mercenary, Leo Alvarez is forced to grapple with the realm of supernatural beings far more dangerous than anything he’s ever encountered when his best friend becomes host to the soul of an ancient Egyptian pharaoh.  Now, to save his friend from utter destruction, he must team up with another supernatural creature – a Night Angel. The two must unite their strengths to bring down a supreme evil and form an unusual alliance one that is electrified by sexual temptation.
This steady to fast paced plot is full of action, suspense, and romance,  The author brings this entertaining story to life with vivid images and intense details that it make the reader feel like they are part of the story.  The strong enchanting characters have strong charismatic personalities that grab the reader’s attention and are easily related to.
The romance between Leo and Faith explodes from every scene and radiates enough heat to keep scorch the reader.  The author conveys the passion and the emotions with an intensity that invokes the reader’s emotions right along with the story.
The author introduces new characters and supernatural species into her stories that always brings unique elements to each one and this story is no different.  Each paranormal story is has its own refreshing story line and wonderful characters while remaining connected to the other series as well and this one is no different.
Jacquelyn Frank is a masterful storyteller that is able to bring unique and fascinating worlds to life that keep the readers mesmerized and thoroughly entertained from beginning to end.  I love all of her books, including the ones written as Jax, and this one is no exception. I was caught up in the book from the very beginning and had to keep turning the pages until I had read the very last word.
