Forsaken was a different type of book then I usually read, but it was a nice change!
Hannah has had a hard life ever since birth. She has been tossed around between different foster parents all her life. When she was an infant her real parents abandoned her. Finally Hannah is adopted at the age of 14 and she thinks maybe, just maybe, things will be different! But, boy was she wrong!
Hannah starts to have very vivid dreams of murders, disturbing hallucinations and the same mysterious boy over and over again.
Hannah is Finally sent to a school for "Disturbed" teens like herself, but once she arrives she realizes that these teens are not the "Disturbed" she thought, but actually descendants of mythical Sea Gods and Goddesses. And she is too. Well, that explains ALOT!
But when she finally comes face to face with Fin the strange boy from her dreams, all goes from crazy to insane!
Hannah must understand who and what she is and if she's willing to except her heritage and future as a descendant from the Sea Gods and Goddesses and fulfill her destiny!
Overall, I did enjoy this book very much and will be reading the second book in the series, but It's not my favorite. That is probably because I don't usually read books with mermaids. But the writing was great, the plot was interesting and pretty fast-paced, filled with lots of magic and adventure. Definitely and nice start to a fun series!

This story is perfectly paced! I never had a moment where I wasn't completely wrapped up in the story and there's not really any naughty bits! There are a few really sweet ones! Yes I'm shocked to be so wrapped up in a YA series but I am. I love Hannah/Anastasia and Finn! It's a beautiful magical fairytale that is full of twists, mystery, romance, and action. And it's just the first book so far! I'm pretty picky about the YA books I read. Let alone the ones I agree to schedule a review or be part of a tour. I was certainly not disappointed by this series.
Hannah/Anastasia is a strong heroine and her past is filled with mystery and darkness. If only her real parents were around. Well we find out why towards the end of Forsaken. Her adoptive mother doesn't seem to even like her and after given a chance to send her to a special boarding school she jumps at the chance to send her. Once at the school everything starts to unfold as she learns bits and pieces about herself and falls for a boy all her new friends told her to stay away from.
Finn. Is he a bad boy or not? Her friends think he is but from what she see's she just isn't sure. As she follows her heart to find out for herself things aren't so clear. He's only part of the mystery that surrounds Hannah/Anastasia. I can't wait to read the next books.

Forsaken is most definitely a don't-think-just-buy book!
Reviewer: Bex
Rating: 5 out of 5 Fairies
Forsaken is an amazing first installment to a YA fantasy series. From the first chapter, I was hooked. There was not a moment that I wasn't gripped by Kristen Day's highly creative and well-developed paranormal fantasy series. This is a book that I could most definitely gush over.
What is so wonderful about this book? Well, pretty much everything! The characters are engaging. Their emotions pounce off the page, their laugh-out-loud humour contagious and their relationships and interactions are successfully crafted for realism, always a bonus in a fantasy world.
The world that the author creates is imaginative from page one. Kristen Day successfully paints a very vivid picture of her characters, their world and the various settings they find themselves in. The tension between the characters at times is palpable, both between the divine love interests and between the protagonist 'Hannah' and her growing enemies.
'Hannah' in particular is a character worthy of main protagonist status. She's a young woman for teenagers to aspire to. Her strength and determination are admirable: qualities that I love in female leads. I actively cheered for her character throughout her first epic journey.

Forsaken tells the absolutely enchanting story of a young girl with a terrible past and terrifying destiny.
17 year old Hannah, who had been found on the porch of a police station at an age of only about 8 months and gone through many foster homes - not all of them good places - has no sense of belonging to her adoptive family and a thick wall build around her heart, not letting herself to get attached to anyone. Having a lot of extremely vivid nightmares, often circling around a good looking stranger with tantalizing blue eyes, and not fitting in to her surroundings has seen a lot of therapists before. But after collapsing at a very elaborate party she went with her adoptive parents and sister and having the most real and terrifying dream she's sent yet to another therapist.
The strange meeting ends with Hannah having to see another therapist and finally being sent to a faraway boarding school for "people like her". With a strong sense this might well translate to "crazy people" Hannah climbs the plane bringing her to her new school only a few days later and decides she might just as well take her chances and start a new life.
Absolutely stunned by the big campus located on a beautiful island Hannah decides that a new life calls for a new name and during the paperwork is done she simply changes her first name to Anastasia, the name she'd heard in so many of her dreams. Introduced to her new roommates, a comforting sense of belonging settles on (Ana)Stasia that she had never known before.
On her first weekend on campus Stasia encounters the blue eyed stranger she's seen in so many dreams, as he saves her from drowning in the sea just to vanish as soon as she's save. As if that wasn't enough to think about she also learns that the school is not for psychos, but exclusively for descendants of seagods and -goddesses: Tydes, Sirens, Tritons and Sons of Daimon. All there learning to control their special abilities before they turn 18 - the age all descendants reach their full powers.
Trying to come to grips with the knowledge of being a Tyde, fitting in to a new school, making new friends (and enemies) and being confronted with the quite literally man of her dreams, Stasia dives head first into her new life, unaware of the dangers and mysterious destiny that await her.
Kristen Days first book is nothing short of a masterpiece! Her detailed style immediately lets you see Stasias world right before your inner eye with all of its beauty, but still never once looses the thread leading you to read on and on, never once stopping the excitement building within the reader on every page.
After I started reading I just couldn't put the book down for a whole night straight, only slightly over the middle of the story dawn surprised me and made me take a break, just to start reading again at (a very late) breakfast and unable to put the book down until I had finished it.
I practically devoured it! All of the descriptions are so detailed but never too much, the worldbuilding is just perfect and all of the characters, even the supposedly "evil" ones have a quality of depth to them. No person in this book is just good or bad, but they all seem to have a story that made them who they are, even though the reader doesn't get to know most of them - there is no black and white and a lot of space for some surprising turns.
Only the lovestory between Stasia and Finn seemed to enroll too quickly, but as she had known him from her dreams for years by the day they first met, even that made sense. Plus I have a strong feeling that there is something more to be revealed about that in the sequel.
I can recommend this book to anyone who enjoys a good fantasy novel and strong characters that just won't fit into a chliché (other than being good looking that is ^^.

Amazing!!
Though it took me quite awhile to be able to read this, due to medical issues, I absolutely LOVED it! It's in my top 10 favorite books!
You have this girl who feels like she's not living her correct life till one day she is sent to this school. There she finds people like her and she's able to find more about herself!
Romance, suspense, action, this story has it all!
I can't wait to be able to read the 2nd book!
I'm not sure why I had to restart reading this book a couple time before I finally was able to continue - but I'd glad I got passed that. This was incredible. Maybe because of something I'm working on but every time Stasia felt her connections with the marine animals I got chills. Her connection to the ocean was probably my favorite part about this story.

I absolutely loved this book!! The story follows Hannah in her early years as she endures hardship and struggle in her life. It follows her to the next stage of her life as she is sent to an island where strange and unusual things happen. She renames herself Anastasia and begins to re-invent her life with the help of three new-found friends and a few others as well. She learns to
trust, love, enjoy, laugh, live, and so much more - and all the while she is still continuing in her struggle to become who she is meant to be.
The story itself is written so well by Kristen Day that it transported me to be an observer in Anastasia's life and new-found world! It is a fresh and unique storyline that kept me hanging onto the edge of my seat! I could not put this book down! I can honestly say that this book is great for YA and older readers. I highly recommend this series!

I absolutely loved this book. This is actually the first book I've read in this genre, and I can't wait to read more.
The book started out slow. I had a hard time following the first few chapters, but then everything starts to come to light and make complete sense. The ending was superb, and I can't wait to read the second book in the series.
'Forsaken' is the first book in the Daughters of the Sea series - one that brings mythological sea creatures to life. The story focuses on Hannah, who was abandoned by her parents as an infant and raised in foster homes around Georgia until she was adopted at age 14. The past couple of years, things in Hannah's life have been getting stranger. She's been experiencing nightmares, visions of murders, and hallucinations. What Hannah doesn't know is that she is very different from those around her - as she is actually a descendant of mythical Sea Gods and Goddesses. Now nothing in her life will ever be the same, and she must come to realize her fate and if she is willing to fulfill it.
I found this book to be fast-paced and fun with lots of fantasy, magic and adventure. I haven't read much mermaid fiction before, so I found it interesting how the author wrote about the culture and the intricate history of these mythical Sea people. I also love how she incorporated other mythological sea creatures into the narratives of all three books. I think that they brought an interesting and fresh feel to the mermaid genre in young adult fiction.
This novel was a bit predictable, but it also had great themes and twists that I didn't see coming. I easily reconnected to Hannah and identified with her early in the story. The ending was a good fit for a first book in a series - it didn't leave the ending too final and it didn't leave too many questions unanswered either. Overall, 'Forsaken' is a great start to a wonderful and intriguing series.

This book is definitely my one of my favourites of the year, I find it very hard to wait for the second book! The story is about a 17-year-old Hannah, living with the family Whitmans that has adopted her. When the reader enters the story she is sent to the House of Lorelei to continue her studies in a school for "other kids like her". At Loreilei she finds the guy she has dreamed of for a long time and finds out more about where she comes from.
This book caught my attention immediately and it never left. It was a very quick and enjoyable read! The story really came alive in my mind and totally swept me into it. There was a point in the story when I had a huge stupid grin on my face for over a chapter, almost two. And there was a definitely swoon worthy male character in this one, oh my!
(I participated on a virtual blog tour of this book and got the book free for reviewing it. No matter, my review is only based on how I felt while I read.)

I have only found a couple mermaid/other water like creature books that
I have really enjoyed, and I am happy to say that this one has joined
the few. This book is about Hannah/Anastasia finding out who she is and
where she belongs. As a baby she was left at a police station, and had
lived through the foster system, and was adopted at age 13 by a stuck up
southern family that wanted her to be perfect. Now at age 17, she is
about to embark on a new journey to a private school, called the House of
Lorelei, and to find out some unbelievable things about herself and her
"trace" she has on her wrist. Here she finds out she is
descended from the Tydes. When she arrives there she picks the new name
Anastasia, or Stasia, in hopes of a new start where no one knows her as
the poor girl that needs rescued. Stasia's journey of discovery about
her past and what is in her future was very intriguing. This was very
well written where you didn't want to put it down. She meets some fun,
awesome roommates at her new school, and the sweet, mysterious, sexy
Finn, that she has had dreams about. She discovers some new powers and
abilities, and where she came from, and that she may be part of an
ancient legend, all with the help of her friends. Which all leads to a
big showdown and a few secrets revealed by the end. And the last line of
the book will have you yelling "What!" and begging for more. I
cannot wait for the next book, and recommend this to everyone!
Forsaken By Kristen Day.
I just finished reading Forsaken. I loved it! It is one of the best books I have read in a awhile. It's a about a girl named Hannah, who is more then she seems. She lives with her adopted family in Atlanta. Soon her whole world is changed when she is sent to a private school called the House of Lorelei. In this new place she has to learn who she can trust and how to control the unexpected and wonderful gifts, she's just discovered. In the midst of all this change, a certain dark haired, blue eyed boy haunts her thoughts and her dreams. This is a beautifully written story with lovable characters and a great plot. I give this book 10 out of 10. This is a book I can see myself reading over and over. I couldn't put it down.
First off.. LOVED IT!!!! Hannah Whittman.. Left on the front steps of a
police station. She doesn't know where she came from, who here parents
were! Now she can't seem to fit in anywhere! At the age of 17 she starts
having black outs and dreams that gets her sent away a special school
for kids like her in NC. This is where things get interesting!!! She
gets to change her name, HOT guys and most of all she gets accepted, but
thats only part of it.. There is sooo much more Sea Goddess, Tydes,
Nerieds, read it to find out more! The book was fantastic! The
Characters were great, ITS A MUST READ!!! Krisen Day AMAZING job, can't
wait for the next book!!

What a wondrous world Kristen Day has created in her first book Forsaken of her series Daughters of the Sea. Having a hard life is nothing new for Hannah. She has been passed from foster family to foster family never really having a place she feels herself.,even after she gets adopted by a family that has everything. Seeing a strange but gorgeous guy in her dreams, which really don’t seem like dreams, to hearing songs coming from water. She gets sent to a special school on a strange island where weird things happen. She comes face to face with dream guy and he is real. This story is about self -discovery, finding out where she came from and finally making some real friends I would suggest this book to anyone who loves a great story. Her next book in the series is out in October and I will be first in line for it.

Overview
Abandoned by her parents as an infant; seventeen year old Hannah spent her childhood wading through countless foster families until being adopted by the Whitmans three years ago. Unfortunately, Atlanta’s high society wasn’t quite ready for Hannah…or the strange events that plague her.
