I fell in love with Carlos and Damali in this book. I read it for the first time in July 2008. My daughter checked it out of the public library for me. At first, I put it aside since I had never read any of L. A. Banks' books before. I had the book for a week before reading the summary on the back cover.
I was hooked from page one. After reading chapter 1, I went online to the library website and requested a copy of every book in the series that they had, which were the first five books and the Forsaken. Afterwards, I went to vampire-huntress.com to learn more about the books in the series and found out about the remaining books.
I put in another request to the library to get the remaining books; which they did. If you live in Tucson, AZ, you can find a copy for all the books except the newest one; since it just came out.
I had to purchase the books because my children, who are 21- and 15-years old kept costing me library fines because they were rereading the books so often they would forget to return them.
We have discussions, while laughing hysterically, about Carlos, Damali, and the Guardians. The whole Neteru team has become like old friends. I won't tell the ending of the last book, The Thirtheenth; all I'll say is "YOU HAVE GOT TO READ IT!". It's the perfect ending for an outstanding series.
Ms. Banks is one of my favorite authors and I'm looking forward to reading her werewolf series. If they're anything like VHL series, I'll end up buying those too.

Slam! Bam! Thank You Ma¿am! LA Banks has done it again!!! Her skill for weaving a story is phenomenal. One more story in the series that continues to bring it¿HARD!!! The main characters are complex, but identifiable. The scenarios are eerily similar to what¿s happening in our world today. The introduction of new characters with different issues, concerns & powers are seamlessly blended into the core of the series storyline. I LUV THIS STUFF!!! Like a dealer of LIGHT Ms. Banks spreads the wealth through her character studies and sends her readers on a joyride that¿s better than any monster rollercoaster on the planet. The new villain is sexy, strong, powerful & deceivingly irresistible. This book shows that even the Damali¿s family got problems to deal with. The Forsaken like all the rest in the VHLS is a must read, butcha can¿t have mine¿naw my brotha u got 2 getchure own!!!!

I love the Damali Richards-Vampire huntress series. The Forsaken delves more into the units uniting itself spiritually and physically to be able to handle the oncoming apocalypse. I enjoyed it

No one can come close. Very detailed and in-depth.Characters are well defined and the series flows from book to book. What this author does with the light and the dark is riveting. Can't get enough. Should be a movie except it would probably be very expensive to make. Matrix type movie. I would most certainly suggest reading the entire series.

I started reading this series with Minion (#1). I love the books and really enjoy the characters and the way they interact. It would have been nice to see a little more happening with the other characters from time to time, even though Damali and Carlos are the main focus. I am looking forward to reading the next installment, in spite of the fact that the books tend to drag a little in places. The author gets bogged down in too much detail sometimes and I find myself skipping paragraphs. Apart from that I continue to enjoy these books and am anticipating the big end of the world blow out that I know is coming!! If you enjoy reading about the supernatural then give this series a shot.

I have read all of L.A. Banks Vampire Huntress books and have loved them all! I love her story telling, her characters, her fight between light and dark, but I did not feel that way about this book. For me, there was too much preaching, too much talking and not enough action. Parts were poignant, but parts were down right boring. This is the first book of this series that I just didn't get into. However, that will not stop me from buying the next one, the Wicked.

Every book gets better and better whether you realize it or not you learn so much from reading The Forsaken that can sometimes be applied to every day living I LOVE IT I can't wait for the next book because I'm 100 percent positive it's going to be even hotter than this one. It's a gret break from reading 'urban' novels that only seem to reduce my vocabulary and brain cells

Damali and the Guardians have done it once again! Damali raises her muse unbeknownest to all who 'He' really is! Who will win and assure that all 'Stays In The Light'! Will Damali realize her true love? Will Carlos command his gifts and come into his own? Will The Muse become Damali's 'One True Love'? The only way to find out is to read the series, start with MINION and you won't be sorry!

I really enjoyed Forsaken. Ms. Banks did a smashing job delving into Damali and Carlos' relationship. I can't wait to see how the new members blend with the team. I can hardly wait for the Wicked and the return of Fallon Nuit. Thanks Ms. Banks.

Oh my goodness, oh my freakin goodness. I'm just blowin away speechless even. LA Banks has me riding on a cloud high in the sky. I feel like I'm floating on air.............. This book is the seventh installment to the Vampire Huntress Legend Series. And boy oh boy is it something else. The characters have gotten more complex and I feel like I know them personally. This book took me places I could have only imagined. The locations and the new characters introduced. Oh my goodness. The character growth is really what makes this book outstanding as well as the introduction to new evils and whatnot. I loved that these characters have come to understand themselves and the ones they love. Outstanding, outstanding, outstanding............... What I love most about this series is the romance element. Amist all this happening (fighting demons, fighting evils, understanding people's view points) these characters still find the time to have love for one another. Great!................... Mrs. B took us there with this series and she made us believe with this one [The Forsaken]. Earlier books in the series prompted me to take a look at other titles by the author and I must say I am an avid Leslie Esdaile Banks fan for life. I'm proud that this series has achieved such success and now we have 12 books! ................. The next book out is entitled The Wicked and we fans are in for a wild ride that just won't stop. I can't wait! How about you?.....................

I had the pleasure of reading this book, and I experienced so many emotions I don't know where to begin. Not only was the story well written it was educational. If you know your history and the bible you will enjoy this book. To read about all of the guardians and realize that they carry the very life of humanity of the world on their shoulders and at the same time grow as people to learn to forgive and enjoy the life they have been given was inspiring. Please if you have not read Forsaken you are missing out on a great opportunity to meet some very exciting people.

I enjoyed this edition in the Vampire Huntress series. I liked that I saw more growth and maturity develop in the characters, particularly Carlos, Damali, & Juanita. Carlos faced a personal competition that he arrogantly thought that he would never have to deal with--in the possible loss of Damali. Moreover, Damali finally let it be know that she can and will move away from Carlos if it what's best for her and the team, and Juanita is more receptive and understanding of her role and importance to the team and to Jose. Plus, there was plenty of action and suspense that made the Forsaken a page turner like the previous novels.

Report this reviewThank you, this review has been flagged.Damali is a Neteru, a slayer of the supernatural entities that would destroy or harm humanity. Her mate is mixed breed Neteru vampiric human Carlos Rivera. He needs to be the dominant partner in their relationship as well as the leader of the Guardian team. However, Damali is tired of his macho pride and after a year away from her music she stops to compose again. At the moment of inspiration, a being walks into her room from the land of Nard in another dimension.------------- The Most High banished the hated demons and their human lapdogs into purgatory because disobeyed his command not to interact physically with humans. Lucifer¿s stomping around the seventh level of Hell until the barrier between two worlds lets in Damali¿s visitor. At first she assumes he is her muse, but soon admits Cain is a Neteru like her. He is a sexy handsome male who shows he desires Damali at a time she is vulnerable after fighting with Carlos. Cain¿s presence is a temptation while Lucifer and his wife Lilith manipulate Carlos, Damali and the other guardians into fighting among themselves. If the group continues on this path, they will not be effective in fighting for the Light in the end of days.---------------- The seventh Vampire Huntress legend tale is one of the best entries in a top rate series due to the growth of the prime characters. For the first time Carlos feels threatened by another man, a powerful Neteru with incredible bloodlines. Part romance, part horror and part mystical thriller, THE FORSAKEN is a bitingly delicious tale that mixes theology with the metaphysical to create a cleverly plotted one sitting reading experience.-------------------- Harriet Klausner

Overview
The Chairman of the Vampire Council is dead, and Lilith, the consort of the Unnamed One, and the Unnamed One himself are out for revenge against Damali Richards, the Vampire Huntress, and her lover, Carlos Rivera. A ruthless and carefully planned strategy---one that not even Damali will anticipate---has been developed. There is only one entity who can best Damali, send Carlos packing, and put the Guardian team at mortal risk. This powerful being was once banished into a forsaken land and possesses everything that would bring a Neteru to his or her knees. This time the fight is not so clear-cut, and it is not only Damali's soul in the balance but her body and heart as well.
