Chapter Twenty-one ~
One of the misty figures advanced, and took shape. It looked similar to one of the red-eyed monsters, except the eyes weren't a blood red color.
The misty shape drew a kinked sword, and raised it's blade.
Time for battle.
Amazing myself with my own agility, I spun around and blocked the blow with my knife. Shoving the sword away, I raised by hunting knife to strike the final blow.
My opponent was quicker. It raised it's sword to parry, than spun away to renew it's attack.
I sensed all eyes on me as I leaped forward, and plunged my knife into the side of the misty figure.
There was a puff of smoke, and it was gone.
"Well done!" Mr. Moonface said cheerily. "Who's next?"
I stepped back to make room for Jalock, as he advanced towards one of the ghostly shapes.
I watched as he swung his sword around in a wide arc, and crashed the blade into his opponent's side.
The shady figue blocked, but only in the nick of time. Jalock pulled his sword away, and struck again, clashing blades with the misty shape.
There was a ring of steel against steel, and then Jalock raised his sword. In a puff of billowing mist, the figure was gone.
"Good job." Mr. Moonface said, and called the next person forward, who was Dinara.
I've never seen Dinara fight before.
Shivering, Dinara circled one of the misty-men. She slowly drew her knife, then plunged forward.
The shifter blocked, then wheeled around to strike again.
Dinara ducked, rolling away from the kinked sword. As she rolled past, she dashed her knife against the attacker's leg.
A puff of smoke.
Lazer went next, gripping his mace with two hands. A fourth shape approached him, swinging it's sword. Lazer swung his mace, and the two weapons collided.
His enemy dodged back and, rolling as Dinara had, Lazer struck the figure on the leg.
It was Logas's turn next, and I'm pretty sure he did the best. As usual, one moment he was beside me, the next he was locked in fierice combat with his opponent. In less then a minute, smoke billowed out and the misty figure had been defeated. I had nearly forgotten about Elbeth, who stepped forward, knife in hand.
I remembered that she has probally done this before, seeing as she is an "older student." The only reason she's here is because of Jalock.
I frowned at the thought, and didn't pay attention as Elbeth stabbed her attacker in the arm.
"Okay, well done all of you!" Mr. Moonface called, jerking me out of my thoughts.
"You can keep practicing here if you want. Tiz will be back to pick you up. I must go see my other students... goodbye and good day!" He smiled, then left.
I noticed the target in the corner, and decided to practice my archery. I sheathed my knife, and drew a feathered arrow.
Pulling back the string, I aimed, and the arrow went flying. It landed, just barely making it inside the center circle.
I can do better then that!
There was a twang besise me. Two green-feathered arrows had pierced the very heart of the target.
I rolled my eyes, smiling at Logas.
"He said knife-tossing, right?" Dinara said, unsheathing hers. There was a thwack, and her knife hit the target.
"Not bad." I said.
Tiz came in. "Hello." She said.
Logas and I retrieved our arrows, Dinara grabbed her knife, and we headed over.
"Okay guys." Tizania said, grinning. "Who's ready for a quiz?"
