Forward Passes Seattle Lumberjacks Book Two By Jami Davenport Quarterback for the Lumberjacks, Tyler Harris, has just inherited a rundown mansion from his great uncle with the stipulation that he must live there for nine months before he can sell it. But this is followed on the heels of an unfortunate accident involving a police officer and his big mouth creating media frenzy and his leaving in the midst of the uproar will only cause more speculation. But after Tyler meets his sassy redheaded neighbor he thinks the stay may not be so bad. Lavender Mead hates jocks with good reasons and when Tyler moves in next door she wants nothing to do with him even if he is drop dead gorgeous. Sexy jock and the feisty girl next door could you get an even better scenario for a steamy romance novel? I loved the quips between the two as they both go through their own tumultuous side stories as they grow together and find a way to become a better person each in their own aspects. The only problem I had was that the author seems to use the word “rooster” (edited to keep this review rated g) so much that I began to wonder if she did indeed know a another word for it. Though this does happen sometimes in romance novels that an author will find one word they like and stick to it. Other than that Jami Davenport has created a wonderful story that is witty and beautiful, I had no idea that this book was a part of a series so now I am off to try to find the first one! I was sent a free copy of this book for an honest review.

***** Love, Life, and Heartache! What do you do when things get out of your control? Where do you hide so that no one knows your name? When you are on top of the world how does it feel to be thrown to the bottom of the heap? Some girls are attracted to the "bad" boys because they are in it for the thrill and some just do not know any other type. So what do you do when you find yourself attracted to the "bad" boy for all the wrong reasons? Is he really that bad or is it just an act or has he just been given a bad rap? Do you let yourself find out by following your heart or do you listen to your head and stay well away? Jami Davenport creates wonderful characters that are full of life and yet are real enough to let you imagine being friends with them. Forward Passes is an awesome story with wonderful characters and page turning twists. If you need a really good book to get involved in then check out Forward Passes! You will not be disappointed.

Forward Passes is the second book in the Seattle Lumberjack series and gives us Tyler's story, who was introduced in book one. Yeah, he's arrogant. Yeah, he can be an ass. But it's all am image he projects. Lavender has been burned by men involved in sports. She had no wish to get involved with an athlete. When Tyler's uncle dies and leaves him the family estate on an island with poor cell services and a stipulation he can't leave the island, the two of them are thrown together. She thought things would be different within the will but once again is disappointed by a man. He's introduced to the inhabitants and we glimpse some of the heartache of his past. Lavender learns that those she trusted had lied to her. Tyler learns that he can trust himself again and maybe get that third ring. Jami one again delivers a hot book with emotional ups and downs. I wanted Lavender to find her HEA with her family. And I wanted Tyler to love the game again. And I love the cat. Can't wait for the next installment.

Reviewed by Jen Book provided by Innovative Online Book Tours for review Review originally posted at Romancing the Book As a sports fan and an avid romance reader, you’d think that I would have enjoyed this book more than I did.  It’s not that it’s a bad story.   But it’s more I had trouble connecting with the characters and their motivations. Let’s start with Tyler.  He’s fresh off winning a Super Bowl and now he’s stuck in the San Juan Islands for a couple months in order to claim an inheritance.  He constantly projects a bad boy persona to the public, but private he’s not sure who he is… and the reader is taken along with his journey of self discovery.  So, yes, Tyler does grow during the book.  But it was that trip that often had me shaking my head.  Tyler yo-yoed so often, I was confused throughout most of the book. And then there is Lavender.  A girl with some major family issues and a dislike of, but an attraction to jocks.  So, when Tyler moves in next door, she’s not happy.  Throughout the story, Lavender has to deal with her insane grandmother, absentee father and odd relationship with Tyler.  Lavender grows as well, and I was often shaking my head here too.  I just could understand her and all her screwed up relationships. The love scenes were scorching hot and plentiful.  Ms Davenport was quite inventive in a few of those scenes.  But, they also fit into the story and help with the development of Tyler and Lavender’s relationship. The book was well written and obviously well researched.  The book touches on emotional abuse within a family.  And while I was often frustrated with the characters in the situation, it was handled quite well. In the end, this was a middle of the road read for me.  It was enjoyable enough, but it doesn’t stand out.  However, I am curious enough that I will likely check out some other books in this series to see what Ms Davenport does to these football players.

What a wonderful and very hot romance! As a football fan myself (Go Cowboys!) I really loved the story from Tyler’s point of view and seeing that as perfect he looks from the outside he has real insecurities inside that he just didn’t want to deal with. One thing I found very interesting was Lavender’s back story. It deals with a real problem that does in fact happen in families where the parents are no longer together. It is called parental alienation syndrome or PAS for short. I think that Ms. Davenport really dealt with this situation very well. It added such a dimension to Lavender’s character and to her relationship to Tyler. Forward Pass is the second in the Seattle Lumberjacks series but is perfect as a standalone story. I have not read the first in this series but this was so good I know I will read it as well as the next book. Caution: This book is for adults due to language and sex scenes.
