Overview

Even an outcast can reach for love.

Though novice witch Hailey Devereaux seems to have settled into her latest coven, she knows that it can’t last. Tucked against the remote Alps of northern Italy, the Angioli coven is ill at ease with their newest member. Whispers and fearful glances follow her everywhere.

But the arrival of a Magus Corps major ends all that. Kieran McCallen isn’t afraid of her singular ability. Instead he’s been sent to nurture and test it. Though Hailey’s waif-like and delicate beauty are charming, her power is the stuff of legend.

Each loners in their own way, Kieran glimpses Hailey’s fiercely protective spirit when it comes to friends. For her part, Hailey dares to hope that she’s found the person and place meant for her. But their bond is put to the test by danger and by duty, forcing each of them to impossible choices

The story was short but it grabed you from the start and made you want to know more about them

Some steamy scenes are mixed in and help make it an even bigger page turner. I am looking forward to more from this author. The only complaint I have is that I think the main characters relationship could be more developed and less hung by a thread.

Although we don't see the same characters from Warlock Protector series, this is the same world. We are shown a bit of what happens in and around a coven. It is mentioned that the town thinks of the Abby inhabitants as like a commune sort of group and that is somewhat true, but with the difference that they are magical people. The Abby is not just a place to learn as the case of Hogwarts, but a full-time residence. It is interesting to learn something about the structure of Ms.Hunters society during this introductory story. There are still exciting rescues from Templars and a romance begun but this story does not end with HEA. There is a tie-in to the next book in the serial to continue the story as opposed to the Protector series that could be read alone.
