Overview

This eclectic collection of poetry represents the essence o fmy life's work in writing poetry during the years 1969 to 2012. A strong feature of this work is the so-called Found Poetry method. Using this methodology, I selected stories from various media with which to creat original poems. These media included newspapers, books, video presentations, films and the like. The Found Poetry method involves using words and ideas gathered from these stories and mixing it with my own words and ideas to create original poetry. Good examples of the Found Poetry method are found in the first section of this collection, entitled: Found Poems: Fifty From the L.A. Times. Over a period of eight years, I pre-selected articles exclusively from the L.A. Times to create the 50 found poems. An added feature of this first section is the multimedia correlation of 23 illustrations with 23 selected poems so as to enrich the interpretion of the poems. The 2nd section of this work is a series of poems about Germany, covering its history from Bismarck's rise to power in the 1870's to the present. This section is on-going and makes extensive of the Found Poetry method. The final two sections contain a mix of recent and selected archival poems. These have themes like sports (baseball and basketball), religion, American history and culture, and anti-war poetry.
