Overview

In a game played on and off the field, only one of them will emerge the winner.

Armed with an uncanny ability for evaluating football talent, a dogged determination to succeed in a man's world, and an empty bank account, Rachel McCormick agrees to help struggling wide receiver Derek Ramsey get his game back. Rachel believes Derek, her former best friend and lover, knows the truth behind the points-shaving scandal which ruined her father. She vows to expose the secret even if it destroys Derek in the process.

When Derek's coach suggests sex as an excellent tension reliever the night before a game, Rachel takes one for the team. The next day, Derek has the best performance of his not-so illustrious pro football career. As Derek and Rachel rack up nights in bed and other places, the team racks up wins on the field. Rachel is torn between her loyalty to her father and her growing affection for Derek.

Now it's fourth and goal, one second left on the clock. Their hearts are on the line. Do they trust each other enough to go for the long bomb or do they get dropped for a loss?

Reviews:

"I got sucked into this book. I mean, hook line and sinker sucked in. I was deeply invested in these characters. Hooked folks, I'm positively hooked."--Recommended Read from Wendy, the Super Librarian

"I am thoroughly impressed with Ms. Davenport's ability to instill escapism in her story. For the duration, I was consumed with her tale of two friends to lovers intertwined with football." -- Top Pick from Yadira, Night Owl Reviews

"The ending was heartrending and I loved reading my way through the football season with a player who had lost his mojo." Jane Litte via Goodreads

"Fourth and Goal displayed a deep and comfortable knowledge of football but strangely enough it wasn't the on field shenanigans that I enjoyed the most, but the off the field relationships that the characters developed. ...I was captivated..." Jane at Dear Author

"Romance so real that you feel you are there."--Trixie, Blackravens Reviews

"A good beach or airplane read and you don't have to know a lot about football to enjoy the story." --Alberta, Manic Readers Reviews

Great Sports Romance! Rachel is hired by Derek who happens to be her former best friend and one night stand. Derek hires her to watch over his house and animals when he away at out of town games. Derek is a professional wide reciever for NFL team. Rachel is also trying to get close to Derek to find out information that could clear her Dad's reputation from a points shaving scandel. Rachel grew up around sports and is awesome at coaching and agrees to work with Derek and his cousin Tyler to get their game back. In the midst of this, Derek and Rachel's chemistry continues to build to where they agree to have a no strings attached affair. This is an adult erotic romance and should not be read by anyone under 18. The romance is hot, steamy and adventurous. The NFL team also adopts a terminally sick kid, Ryan, whose hero worship of Derek puts his world in prospective. The ending was a happily ever after that will have you in tears and cheering at the same time. I loved this! flag

Football is my second favorite sport, second only to basketball. As a 6’0” woman, of course basketball is my favorite, that was my life in high school. I love sport romances and Fourth and Goal definitely lived up to and surpassed my expectations. I loved the story line and how these two fought the attraction until they couldn’t any more. Ms. Davenport knows how to put in just the right amount of angst and hot, sweaty sex to make a story hard to put down. I fell in love with all the characters and cried, laughed and shared the emotional turmoil they all did. I can’t wait to read more about the Lumberjacks. I will definitely be checking out the rest of this series by Ms. Davenport.

## I liked it but didn't love it. I didn't really like the relationship between the hero and the heroine. It was strange. And they lacked chemistry. And why make the heroine so incredibly clumsy that she falls every two minutes. However, I did really like the secondary story about a terminally ill high school kid that brought out the best in everyone and put things in perspective. And the ending was terrific. Mixed feelings about this one.
