Editorial Reviews

Children's Literature - Mary Quattlebaum
The young adolescent fox in the "Fox" series deals with a little sister, love, and a job. I especially enjoyed "Fox the Famous" in Fox be Nimble. In this story Fox, who would rather play at being a famous rock star, is 'talked into' babysitting for the neighborhood rascals. These rapscallions keep him hopping and bring him fame in a way he doesn't appreciate!
School Library Journal
K-Gr 2-- Beginning readers are sure to delight in Marshall's sixth and newest book of Fox' ventures. In the first episode, Fox babysits for his rambunctious neighbors and ends up on the TV news. In the second chapter, he makes a big fuss over a small injury, but then learns how to be brave. Finally, Fox finds a place where he can show off all he wants--leading the band in the big parade. Marshall's wit is evidenced through the antics of all his zany characters. Without using difficult words, he extends new readers' understanding of the text through his bright, colorful, and very funny watercolors. As children read of the antics of Fox and his friends, they're sure to chuckle and laugh. Buy multiple copies of this hilarious winner by a master illustrator and author. --April L. Children's Literature - Mary Quattlebaum and Marilyn Courtot
The young adolescent fox in the "Fox" series deals with a little sister, love, and a job. I especially enjoyed "Fox the Famous" in Fox be Nimble. Fox is a member of the band, but when in class, he tends to showoff so the teacher ejects him from the class. Outside he meets his friend Raisin who is trying to twirl a baton. Fox claims it looks easy and to everyone's surprise, he really is good at it. The ending of this short tale will bring smiles to many faces. In another story Fox, who would rather play at being a famous rock star, is ?talked into' babysitting for the neighborhood rascals. These rapscallions keep him hopping and bring him fame in a way he doesn't appreciate! The third story reveals a Fox who is a bit of a hypochondriac. When his sister, Louise, is injured she doesn't complain at all and Fox who had made such a big fuss is now quite silent. The illustrations are as amusing as the stories especially the ones with the kids that Fox is babysitting drifting away on balloons, Fox being carried down from the high diving board, and his antics when he trips over a roller skate and colliding Mrs. O'Hara into for yet a second time. Selected as a Notable Children's Books, by the Association for Library Service to Children, this reissue will amuse another generation of readers. A Level 2 book in the "Penguin Young Readers" series. Also designated as Guided Reading Level "J," this transitional reader offers more challenge, different points of view and contains a note to parents and teachers on the opening page.
