Overview

The goal of the book is to apply the ideas of fractional analysis to finite-dimensional controlled systems. The most advantageous feature of the book is an algorithm of fractional analysis, developed by the author, as well as a large number of examples of its application for problems of mechanics, control, vehicle dynamics, gyroscopy, robotics, etc. The following new results are of particular interest: an new compact way of presenting the basics of similitude and dimensionality theory, the technique of normalizing dynamic system equations, the methods of introducing small parameters, corresponding to different classes of system motion, comparative analysis of the most important methods of small parameters, reduction of the system with discontinuous characteristics to singularly perturbed form, approximated models of various systems, and correctness justification of classical models of mechanics. This book will be useful for graduate students and researchers in almost all branches of applied sciences and mathematics where approximate mathematical modeling is needed, i.e., mechanical and electrical engineering, vehicle dynamics, robotics, and all systems described by ODE's. The level of presentation requires only an acquaintance with fundamentals of mechanics and theory of ODE.
