well written, engaging. characters thought out. did not see the ending coming. red herrings well laid. the only complaint i have is that i was "thrown out" of the book with the scene of their first date. book is set in lexington, ky. ms walker is native to the state. she has to know that the city banned smoking in public. other than that i loved the book.

Whew! My heart is still racing after finishing "Fragile" by Shiloh Walker. This is an expanded version of an e-book story titled 'Share and Share Alike', but even though I had already read the e-book, I was still riveted to the pages of the expanded novel. The tension was high, the mystery was intricate with plenty of suspects, and the sex was hot, hot, hot.

Devon survived the death of her parents only to end up the victim of a child molester. After running away, she spiraled down into drugs and life on the streets to forget. It was a social worker who saved her life and now, as an adult, Devon herself is a social worker fighting for children who can't fight for themselves. She's built a life for herself but is alone. Her buried fears means she's never been able to get close to a man...until a handsome doctor cares enough to break down her walls.

Luke is an ex-Army Ranger medic who's seen more than his share of cruelty and inhumanity. After a horrible injury, he leaves the military for life as a civilian doctor. From the first, Devon's air of fragility coupled with her inner strength fascinates him--but he also realizes she's wary and hiding something in her past. As he finally begins to get closer to Devon, she suffers a horrible attack and their life suddenly seems to fall apart. Suddenly she seems to fear Luke. Is she losing her mind...or is there someone else out there?

Chills, thrills, and a love story that will stay with you. But now I want the story of a couple of the secondary heroes...don't know whether to appreciate that or be frustrated :)

Six years ago, Dr. Luke Rafferty left military combat medicine to become a civilian ¿combat¿ doctor working the emergency room working especially with abused children. His vocation introduces him to children¿s social worker Devon Manning. The pair are attracted to one another and begin a heated affair.

As they fall in love, someone stalks Devon; an individual who seems to know not so public facts about each of them. Whereas Luke believes he finally found what he was looking for when he left the military, his beloved social worker is reminded why she prefers working with troubled childhoods; her belief is that she only relates well with kids due to her awareness that relationships end in a relatively short time. She plans to end hers with Luke who she believes deserves better, but he insists he loves her. As he struggles to break down her reinforced barriers, they uncover the identity of her stalker, which only fortifies Devon¿s belief she can never have anyone permanently in her life.

This is an exciting character driven romantic suspense thriller as Luke battles on two fronts. He must convince Devon they belong together and uncover who the stalker is and why. The support cast is solid especially Luke¿s reclusive twin and the other grunts from their military unit. Devon is also a strong character as knows love is fleeting as people leave. Shiloh Walker provides a tense thriller starring a hero finding what he has been seeking seemingly forever and his FRAGILE beloved who is ready to flee.

"Fragile" grabs you by the heart and doesn't let you go until the very last page. A story of vulnerability exposed and exploited, trust held back, love misunderstood and pain both emotional and physical! I didn't set this book down for more than a few minutes all week-end long because I just had to know what was going to happen next! Believe me the rollercoaster ride is worth it!!

This is my first Shiloh Walker book, and there is no way it will be my last. I have already bought Broken (Quinn's story). These two really broke my heart. Between Devon's past and Luke's issues, I wondered if there was enough therapy for these two to find their own HEA. The love scenes were eloquently written, and watching them fall in love was like you were in the room with them. The secondary characters were great as well, which is one of the reasons I am looking forward to Broken, Quinn was written so well that I was intrigued from the first meeting of him. The mystery was almost to easy to figure out until a few more twists were added in...it was awesome.
