Overview

For the multitudes of parents facing the challenge of raising a child with special needs, Fragile X, Fragile Hope affirms that they can survive the devastation of the unexpected diagnosis, the lost dreams, the confusion of treatment options, the sleep deprivation, the painful misunderstandings of friends and family, and that more than survive, they can find a way through this chronic stress and grief back to hope and joy.

Elizabeth Griffin's honest book shows how parents can move from profound grief to embracing parenting a special needs child. Her son Zack is a Fragile X child with autistic tendencies. Fragile X is the most common known cause of inherited mental retardation and the most common known cause of autism.

Further, whatever a person's life challenge or loss, Elizabeth Griffin's honest account speaks to anyone experiencing or seeking to understand depression, chronic stress, or unresolved grief, offering invaluable insight and abundant reasons to hope.

I bought this book for a friend whose son was diagnosed with Fragile X. She said it was like reading her life story. She said she cried the entire way through it but was comforted by feeling like someone understood how she was feeling.

What a wonderful book! It gives hope to a parent who is raising a child with special needs. Any child with special needs not just Fragile X. It shows you are not alone in walking down that path. Thank you for a wonderful book.
