Leonardo Boff's 'Francis of Assisi' is not purely a biography of the saint. Rather, it is more a systematic theological and ecclesial reflection on his life and vocation from the view of liberation theology. Thus, someone looking for a simple biography of the saint and the Order he began may very well be disappointed with this book. Those looking for such a book may be more interested in "Francis and Clare" and "The Franciscan Tradition" by Regis Armstrong, OFM Cap, as seen below. But Boff does offer an interesting analysis on how a liberation theologian views St. Francis in light of the larger Church. I would recommend this book more for theologians than the ordinary reader. Was this review helpful? Yes NoThank you for your feedback. Report this reviewThank you, this review has been flagged.
